Seems they aren't willing pay the price for the number one cable news channel in America.   uglystupid2  If they don't bring Fox News back, they will lose my business.

Just something you may already know.

They do not care!

Most businesses no longer care about the individual customer, they have so many customers that the loss of 1 does not affect anything.

They only care when enough customers leave to affect revenue, usually 1,000's or 10,000's.
And then they act like they did not know or did not mean it.

Good luck.

Dish dropped all Turner stuff....or Turner dumped them. So I dumped them because the most of what my wife watches on TV is Turner Classic Movies. The may not care that I dropped them but I care cuz I went back to cable at a WAY better price and have everything we want. I didnt' get the top of the line programming, just the one that had the channels we watch most.  Screw Dish!

I told Dish early this week I expect a credit for the loss of Fox for a week now, which I value more than all the other channels combined.  Assuming I don't replace them which is looking very likely.  I said I WILL NOT PAY for their service sans Fox, and if they unplug me for that, WE ARE THROUGH.  I'm sure they will, they don't give a crap about me.  Or you.  Or your brother.  They don't care until it costs them REAL money.

Dish replied with a robospam saying they value my patronage and will answer my email in person ASAP - DIDN'T.  Meanwhile they want me to go to dishstandsforyou.com to listen to their CEO's lobotomy substitute blaming Fox.

Meanwhile I'm looking at Hulu among other sources.  The wife wants me to just bend over so she doesn't lose her "stories" and other lifetime soppy crap.  Not gonna happen - if Fox isn't back on ASAP then Dish is history.  And I'm keeping their equipment. Just to flip them off.

I had Dish Network way back in '07. They started this whole BS thing about dropping multiple channels because they were concerned about price increases for customers around that time. The first time they did it, I was kinda happy that Dish was taking a stand against the network providers and trying to save me some money. But when this happened a second and then a third time along with a price increase in my monthly bill, I just about had it and got rid of them permanently. Been with my local cable company ever since then and haven't had a single problem with any channel(s) being dropped.

Switched to Direct TV because of dish haggling over prices and dropping channels every time a contract needs to be renewed. Fox is the fourth one dropped temporarily in a year. Stupid.

Simple solution = get directtv

I switch every 2 years back and forth to save over 400 bucks off the first year and suck it up paying thru the nose the 2nd year.

MarkT-  you may not like what dish will do to you once you keep their rental eqmt.  They send you to a debt collection agency and they literally call you every single day 2-3 times per day which is harrassment.  I returned their eqmt. after honoring their 2 year contract, but they decided they could not make a living without charging me 17 bucks for the cost to return their eqmt.    After 6 months now of collection calls and telling dish to suck it and having the collection agency mail me several letters,  I figured I wasted 17 bucks of their time plus postage and paid it.  It will go eventually on your credit rating I believe, but hasn't yet to me.

As far as robbing customers, TDS (telephone data systems) for our phone and especially internet is the worst internet provider in the world when it comes to speed, near dial up speed.  Yah, it only costs 35 bucks per month, but in real world, it is only worth 10 bucks of misery every single day.

Going to consider going thru US Cellular and coughing up more dough if it means reliable and much faster internet speed.  I know 2 neighbors who have already switched recently and I may be the 3rd come January 2015.  If enough of the 1,000's of customers leave TDS affecting their profits,  they may hopefully be out of business soon.  I can only hope.

Well I don't have any use for the equipment once I fire them.  I've been their customer for around 10 years now, I figure - with no gratitude showing on their part for my loyal patronage. The ink is completely worn off the controller in the "man cave" and the receiver fails a lot - firmware or something corrupted - needs replacement again.  If they insist on getting the pieces back - they just might be in pieces.  Or with .45cal holes through them (cursed neighbor teenage kids with their target practicing on my dish).  Or maybe fell in the hot tub.

I've been a Dish Sub since Oct 2000 - I've seen channels go then come back.

If you think changing providers is a permanent solution - you're sadly mistaken. EVERY satellite / cable provider is having issues with EVERY content provider. The content providers seem to think they are entitled to "better than inflation rate" price increases - You can't expect Dish / DirectTv / cable companies to just suck it up without passing the increases on to you.

Besides - if you can find a better entertainment value - more power to you.  OTA is certainly desireable (it's the only way I'm currently getting CBS and FOX - 2 of my local stations are having a retransmission squabble with Dish right now as well as FOX networks).

Depending on just how broad of a definition of "last few years" we're running with, this picture wasn't taken all THAT long ago really (it's got my Valk in it, and I'd already had it for a few years at this point...)

MarkT,  I can 99% guarantee you that if you ask to be switched on over to the customer cancellation dept. stating you want to leave dish,  they will at least give you new free HD with the new Hopper technology receiver able to record and watch 6 shows at once along with 2 new remotes plus about 20-30 bucks off your bill for 2 full years for signing a NEW 2 year committment.  Especially since you have been with dish for so long, they will do it NO problems, since they offered me the same deal after only 2 year committment  to stay with them.

I asked dish when they told me this why didn't you offer me this 1 week ago when I called telling them I am getting directv installed which I did that same day I called and cancelled dish 1 week later?  It is all a money game and both directv and dish have been making a killing on their enormous fees.  Yes, some of the price increases are due to TV channel providers charging them huge fees thinking their channels are worth the price increases, but they still offer like 60 of the 100 channels which I NEVER watch that are useless to most and think by offering so many worthless channels WE as a consumer is getting a good deal which is not true.

I'd love to see a cable or satellite company able to provide ONLY say 15-25 channels we can pick out from a huge listing of channels that we actually would watch and charge and setup ONLY those 15-25 channels and ONLY have to pay 1-2 bucks per channel is all since the other 50-100 channels we receive are junk and never watch.    I bet 75% of the general public would go for that kind of TV provider's idea.

The more channels you receive that you actually will watch,  the more your individual price increases.  I know I only watch at most 40 EVER of the near 250 channels I receive thru dish.

the reason dish lost fox was beacuse dish has a contract with fox for 3 different broadcast stations,, well the contract that expired included two stations, one of which was under a seperate contract and not due to expire for 10 more years but fox said the only way they would sign a new contract on the news channel is if it included the channel that was still in service,,dish told them no way because the extra cost would have to be passed on to the consumer,,,they will get it straight soon enough just like they did turner network,,,

I like calling in when I am ticked off since is fresh in my mind.  I just got done calling in on Saturday after doing it as well Wednesday and Friday to TDS, my internet/phone provider,  about their server being switched on over only a day or two BEFORE Xmas no less causing slow and unable to get emails as well as VERY slow internet for over 5 days now.  Also told them come January if internet is not any faster,  demanding free internet for life since that is what it is worth - FREE!   She at TDS on Saturday transferred me to another dept. on what can be done about slow internet speed of which she was well aware of in my area being overcapacity vs. what their eqmt. can handle.  I got transferred, then recorded message  stated, call back M-Friday during normal business hours, then click, hung up on me.  How nice!!!!  tickedoff

anyways,  I am pretty sure you will get reimbursed over 80 bucks on eqmt. charges if you complain since NO word from customer service rep. that there would be a charge at all.  TDS does this as well when their refurbished used eqmt. modems go bad and send out a NEW one NOT refurbished and think they can charge 100 bucks or so for it without telling their customers upfront.

Not that this has anything to do with anything, but just for jollies I went on maps to see if I could find that view, based on the road signs.

It's really cool what you can find with just a little bit of info and a few minutes googling, ain't it?

(Cool, and scary!)

Found the gas price in Streetview from June 2013 at that same station - $3.65

Hahahaha  went from dish.net bashing all the way to praising Obummer for the drop in gas prices.

For the past 2 years, dish customers haven't been able to view Astros or Rockets games because of a contract dispute.  You could only view these games if you were a Comcast Cable subscriber.  Tens of thousands of customers complained, switched, or canceled service and it still 2 years to get the deal done.
They don't care about single users.   And it doesn't seem like they care about large groups of customers either.

WHAT you said in spades Jimmy. When I called customer service they tried to get me to stay BUT it was like the 4th or 5th call trying to get them to quit givin me "free stuff" and then the following month-surprise surprise-the bill goes up!  uglystupid2 NOW I receive all these "good offers" from both of the major satellite companies which promptly find their way to file 13!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I still think by switching back and forth between dish and directtv is the way to go every 2 year committment.  30-35 bucks off the first 12 months is over a 400 dollar savings, at least the first year anyways.  You get bill shocked though the 2nd 12 months until time to switch back again.

Both suck but cable in my area sucks as well and besides that, not much choice since a roof antenna doesn't cut it to get in clear the 5 local channels.

Internet sucks as well have too few of choices to switch, but looking into it now as well even if it means cancelling my home phone service entirely also with TDS.

I'm with Verizon FIOS.  Good service, unless you have to talk with a human.  I think they have an IQ test for human phone reps;  if their IQ is above 50, they don't get hired.

My indoor box has a battery so if I lose power, I still have a phone.  When the battery gets low, the box beeps loud enough to wake a dead (or sleeping) person.  My battery load tests perfect, but the beeping starts every 40 days or so anyway (I think it's just lonely and wants attention).  I asked for a new box without a beeper, or for them to disconnect or destroy the beeper.  All I got was confused silence.

They keep calling/emailing me with specials, but they all cost more than I'm paying.  I asked if they keep notes on my electronic account.  They do.  So I said please put in my account notes to only notify me of any specials that cost less than I am now paying.  More confused silence erupted.
