I'm nearly through reupholstering a fitness center over in leesberg (think bike fest!) I still have to do a motor cover and a bimini cover for the last boat I finished in NOV. yesterday a friend of a co worker wants some awnings done for his personal motorhome (he's a RV tech)  the fitness center added a massage table to the job, got that done today (I can add that notch to my belt, never did one before)

my Bro wants me to come down and vist him and his gal, I just don't have the time. maybe when things slow down some. Roll Eyes

I may have to increase my labor rate to scare off some of these folks  Wink

What a great problem to have! Your work must be exceptional and with good customer service your future is secure. Increasing your rates is the only way to throttle demand when your good. My wife runs an alterations business. Same idea. The real problems begin when you hire an employee(s). She doesn't have any so she has zero paperwork to deal with. Services aren't taxable in Missouri so she doesn't even have to collect sales tax.

It is nice when it all goes according to a schedule. The problem is balancing that schedule and keeping everybody happy. When you work for a company you only have one boss. When you work for yourself, every customer is your boss and they all expect to get first class service. One unhappy customer will talk more than 20 satisfied customers. Keep the communications open and honest (especially about time frame) with every customer and that helps solve a lot of problems before they start.

Hey Musclehead,

Post some pics of your work, I'd like to see them and I'm sure others would to.

Have you done bike seats, seems like they would be easy compared to what you've been doing.

I did my own in a celtic pattern, they aren't that hard and only require a few hours.

I posted the boat I recovered back in November, but I'll put the pics back up.
