Bike won't start when in gear

I have a Valk Interstate. If it is in gear it won't start even when i pull the clutch. Is it normal ? If not could it be the clutch handle switch?

Kickstand must be up to start in gear. If you have that up when you tried, it could be the kickstand switch.

There is a short little shaft that is between the clutch lever and the master cylinder. That goes into a brass "barrel" in the clutch lever. That "barrel" gets worn and won't let it trip the switch.

Try this with the bike NOT running.
You should hear an audible slick from the clutch lever switch when you pull in the clutch lever. If you do not hear the click then you might have some worn parts in the clutch lever area.
If you hear the click, make sure that the two wire connector is attached to the switch. You can also spray some contact cleaner into the switch to clean the contacts.
You could also connect a meter to the switch to check for 0 ohms resistance with the clutch lever pulled in.

A multimeter and a continuity tester are imperative for any kind of electrical work.

And these items are usually very inexpensive from many sources.

Those parts have nothing to do with the switch.

If it's the clutch switch not working that is causing the problem, there are most likely causes:

1. The pivot hole in the clutch lever is worn out, preventing the handle from fully depressing the switch.  The fix for this is to replace the lever.  You can test this by temporarily shimming the surface of the lever that contacts the switch, enough that you hear the switch click when you pull in the clutch lever.  Then see if this allows the bike to start while in gear.
2. The switch itself is faulty and needs replacing.

Problem solved. Don't buy adjustable levers .They don't fit right. It was not touching the switch. Thrown to gabage can.

sometimes have to fit levers. Have adjustables on both my gurls and all works perfect.
