I recently put some Stephen Stills albums on my iPod... Change Partners came
on the other day on the way to work, it is a cool song with neat open chords.

Some of the lyrics are kind of non-sensical though...

All of the ladies attending the ball
Are requested to gaze
In the faces found under Dave's car

-Mike "Dave's not here, man  Roll Eyes "

 Grin

Those are usually my favorite kind of lyrics. That maybe one of the reasons I liked Dylan so well. "He went off sniffing drainpipes and reciting the alphabet".

I think Dylan really was sniffing drainpipes...  Wink

... but there weren't any faces under Dave's car... just faces on the dance card...

I never cared much for Hendrix until maybe 15 years ago when I found out he wasn't saying "scuse me while I kiss this guy".  Embarrassed

Hey y'all, just remember that lyrics writing is art just like the music. Some of it gets way out there and sometimes you may not ever get the meaning of the words and sometimes I think when the artist is writing the lyrics, he or she is smiling in derision daring you to make sense of the words because they were never meant to make sense.

Frye, actually Jimi Hendrix did say "scuse me while I kiss this guy" after he heard that people thought he was saying that on the record.  There are later live recordings where you can clearly hear him say that.  Smiley
There is a word for misheard lyrics, it is mondegreen.
There, I'm done being Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.
