Just punish crime and not demonize the inanimate object (same in gun control)

People do the things they do because they get away with it.  If, instead they WENT AWAY FOR IT things might be different

Those of us who understand it only have to sit back, agree and have a chuckle.

I can hardly wait to read the other side that doesn't get the point.

I agree with you ChrisJ, computers are tools in the hands of people. There is going to be use and abuse. I happen to need all the computer power and storage I can afford. I have 20 years of detailed full color drawings that I have accrued and they are static. If they were animated, I would need terabytes to store all that. I also keep an extensive music collection on external hard drives so I like the freedom to own my computers. Not to mention....I get to talk to you folks of the VRCC with my computer.

I lost all of my high power computers in that boating accident lst year.

Valker, my heart goes out to you. I had a hard drive crash and burn on me right after hurricane Katrina. I was using it on generator power and hadn't taken the power fluctuations into mind. That cost me dearly. I hadn't backed any of that drive up.

I can hear it now, Yeah he's got a point maybe we should start to restrict computers. Then, Oh what is he trying to say with the last line HUMMMMM  ??? not important.

Good letter though, maybe some will get it.

Not to worry boys. Everything you've ever done is all safely stored, either in the cloud, or your ISPs cache servers. And your facebook posts and twitter tweets will outlast the Universe itself. I imagine that even the VRCC is hosted on a server farm somewhere, and you can bet whoever run that server farm has everything backed up across several physical locations.

And even that stuff you don't think you ever posted, (yes I'm talking about that word file that "never left" your hard drive) may well have been copied off to some hacker by the malware you downloaded with that last Obama joke, or MP3 file. (I realize that none of you guys look at porn, so I didn't mention the dangers of malware there.)
