Do those things come with a remote control, radio control or a way to guide/control from inside?

Yeah, I admit it.    I've shoveled all the frigg'n snow I plan on shoveling.      Where do I get one of those I can operate on remote control?     Been using the S.O. for the last few years but, gett'n harder to get her running and push'n her out the door is another struggle.

Ron,

While remote control would be GREAT, bundled up in my Carharts leaves me really toasty when I'm out throwing snow.
As for the snowthrower, the Hondas are pricey-about 3 times what you'd pay at a big box store for brand X, but we all know what you get with a Honda. I am not exaggerating to say that their claim that my model can throw snow 49 feet is very accurate.

Stay warm!

Nice looking Honda.  I'll stick with my 11 HP, 30" Husqvarna to do our 200' driveway.  Woke up to -7o this morning and wind chills are predicted to be 30 below.  Operate it safely and stay warm.

I went out this morning to shovel the walk in front of the shop around 10* and only about 1" of snow.
When I finished I remembered I bought a snow thrower last year and it's sitting in the back room, need to go get some gas.

Winter is making a comeback here in SE Wisconsin too...  Only used the SnoBlower once in December, but have used it 5 times already this year (including this morning).  We've had a buncha small 2"-3" snow falls since the 1st.  Yesterday was -15 on my way to work, and this morning I bout froze while clearing the drive before work.  Came in the house, and the thermometer said -7...  That will shiver yer timbers  Wink

Winter in the upper MidWest...  Gotta love it  cooldude

Mike, you're close. I have a raised ranch where the lower level is about 4 foot below ground. I do have to blow out the lines to the lake property pipes in the fall as it's only a 3 season property up in Wisc.
Good luck on keeping them in liquid form!

David, that's gotta suck when the beast won't  start. Usually, when I'd start my snow throwers for the first time of the season, I'd  open up the carb bowl screw and drain a few ounces of the gas (and water) from the bowl, retighten the screw and they would start right up. Stay warm up in the Great White North!

Black Dog, as I get older, I'm loving it less and less, but I gotta admit, it's fun to get bundled up and play in the snow. Wife and I want to go up to Wisconsin and rent some snowmobiles some day and hit some trails.

Better rent them sno-scoots way up in northern WI then.  We were suppose to get 5-5.5", but only received 3" at most.  Only 1 other snowfall yet this year being 2" is all.   Kids are depressed as well,  they had school today but they might close school tomorrow due to -2 for a high, especially if the winds ever pick up soon.

I don't get the snowblower out unless 5" or over and if over 8",  then I get out the ATV with 60" moose plow if need be.  We have not had an over 8" snowfall in years (knock on wood).  Gotta go out now and shovel by hand my driveway and 2 older neighbors driveways as well, one being vacationing in AZ all winter as they normally do.  A few times last year when we had all them 2-4" snowfalls nearly every other day all winter,  I had to chill out and take a break because that is a ton of snow, literally, to throw around by hand.  I need the exercise though, especially in winter all couped up.

One thing that really helps if no one has done it in bitter cold, is get a pair of cheap (20-30 bucks) ski googles to wear, preferably tinted in bright sunshine, which really helps with the cold on the face/eyes and glare from the sun bouncing off the white snow.  I use them all the time outside not only for shoveling snow, but for ice fishing as well or anything else spending more than 10-20 minutes outside in the cold and wind.

that is a nice somewhat older snowblower there.  Sometimes the older ones are the best vs. what they make nowadays, just like Honda cycles.   cooldude

I am probably soon going to be inheriting my mother in laws 1970's awesome brute monster blue in color Sears Homelite 5hp all metal construction snow monster.  That thing, with the newer 5hp motor installed in last decade, since old motor finally gave out after all these years, will throw snow literally easily 100' in the right conditions.  It is taller and less wide with a HUGE metal chute that is awesome to run, but my 120lb. 72 year old mother in law can no longer start it by the VERY long pull rope.  It is so old she checked when got new engine and can no longer install push button electric start on it even with the newer 7 year old or so engine.  I told her to NEVER sell it since they don't make them like that anymore nowadays built to last 40+ years with barely any rust on it after all these years.  A new one that good would run 700 bucks on up and the gauge of sheet metal is 1/2 as thick made nowadays.  It is a bear to move around as well still has the old rusted chains on the wheels even with gear drive.

I hear ya Cookie...  When I head out these days, there is NO exposed skin  Wink  Be it icefishing, or snoblowing, the gear is similar.  The goggles really help when snowblowing when the wind is whipping (like yesterday and today).  Something about a face full of powdery snow, at -7 that brings out all sortsa bad words  Angry

Mike, that's a great idea about the ski goggles. I wear a full head mask but it leaves the entire eye/nose/mouth area exposed! And who would think Southern Wisconsin wouldn't get enough snow to do viable snowmobiling? Thanks for the info.

Dennis, you will no doubt be out on the Valk before me but I did take a one hour ride on New Year's Day. Temp was 29. No heated clothing was used. And yesterday was the 8th anniversary of my wreck that totaled out my first Interstate.
It was also in the 20s that morning when on my way to work and the young girl pulled out in front of me.

Jess, I love that video! As Tim the Tool Man would say, "More Power"!

Wow! Nice looking Honda. I've never had a track laying snow blower, but I'm sure I'd like one. Same darn weather here. Near zero or less with lots of wind and subzero wind chills. Supposed to be really cold tonight. Still not yet like the old days. I can remember -33* F actual air temperature here in Lincoln, but that may have been our all time record low.

ROBOPLOW is a winner!  Can we swap to a mower attachment to do large lawns in the summer?  The RC Snow Thrower is more than a little weak.  Our snow plows here can easily put up a three foot high berm of snow at the mouth of the drive way.

WARNING:  Before you take that black beaty for a spin around the block turning it all to an off white color,  make sure you check the oil for those oil spots on your driveway could mean something?  Cheesy

You honestly pulled out onto the driveway your shiny cleaned up Valk in the bitter cold just to snap that pic?

By the way,  that is a pretty clean, free of snow, driveway you have there at this time of winter (minus the few oil spots).    Your snowblowers must really get ALL the snow off your driveway.   I find snowblowers are easier and usually quicker overall, but if you want a 'down to the pavement clean'  best to use a good old metal bladed heavy duty snowshovel scraper.  If under 3" snowfall though,  I can clean my driveway quicker than any snowblower can do being cleaner done as well.  The one thing that sucks is when winter is about over,  unlike my neighbors who have snowblowers using all the time,  I have the longest/highest snowpiles alongside my driveway since shoveling just to the sides does not blow the snow further away from the end of the driveways like a snowblower does.

Can you even imagine what parts of NY got around Buffalo area having 100" of snow or so in a few weeks (not recent)?  I cannot fathom that, can you??? Maybe parts of Alaska??

....Ya...I have to admit, a few of the winters I just couldnt take it anymore and would dig a "path" out to the street right around the end of winter and take a few rides up and down my street. I know its not good for the bike and Lord knows there is a TON of salt on the roads up here, but she seems none the worse for wear and if it does affect her in the long run, Im thinking Chili will have to deal with it after Im gone...  cooldude

It got up to 34 last Friday, so I "forced myself" to take a short ride.  The sun was sort of shining through the clouds so I figured it was close enough, weather-wise, to top off the battery and run a few errands.  It was a bit cool out on the highway, but it was worth it.   cooldude  Glad I was wearing enough leather to make cows nervous, but you got to ride when you can this time of year. Today's high was 2 and should be -9 tomorrow morning.  Too cold for me and still have patchy snow and ice from the 4" of snow we got Sunday.

Dang, y'all!!! I really feel for everyone up yonder this time of year... Of course, I'll be green with envy in another six months... Oh well... I do feel somewhat wimp-ish, though,  after reading about conditions up there... It's only 14* here this morning and of course no snow... but I'm probably going to pass on a ride anyway. Perhaps tomorrow...

No salt to contend with either. Nope, only salt on our roads comes from half-eaten pretzels being tossed by litterbugs out of their car windows... Hard for me to imagine going literally months on end without riding... For me, mere days on end between forays is plenty tough enough on my nevers. I'll keep a good thought for y'all... and, I'll throw a leg over ALI's saddle before this week is gone... You know, for all y'all's sake... take one for the team and all that... See ya when things thaw out!

AS I set here reading this it's "0". The wind is blowing up to 45 mph and its snowin like hell. Supposed to get 12" of snow here tonight with high winds and blizzard like conditions. Wind chill to 35+ below. I'm and outdoors person and winter is starting to wear more on me every year.
The best I can do is go  out and look at the bikes and start them once every two weeks. Gets warmer I will go out to the pole barn and build a fire. I can it up to 60 in there and do my winter maintenance and clean. Thats as good as it gets until this stuff goes away.

THIS!!!!!    cooldude

I can see this doing a whole lot more than plowing snow.     Mowing, yard vac, photo scout missions, remote varmit hunting.   Oh yeah, this has potential!!!!!!

DDT...loved the half eaten pretzel reference! I WISH we only had that much. Unfortunately, without the salt, we'd have a lot more fender benders and they tend to get pricey to fix-or at least keep up  with the insurance increases. I was last out on Christmas Day for an hour on the Dragon. Temp was 29 degrees. It still felt good-and exhiler..exhillira.....exhilereightin.....FUN!
Tell Ali hi from us Northerners..she was looking mighty fine at Ashville last summer!
Stay warm, good buddy!
