First part of the week below 0 at night, teens and twenty's during the day, snow and ice. Today Saturday the 10th of January 66 degrees sunny and blue sky's Rocky Mountain back round I was off riding the Valk down the road enjoying life! Ended the afternoon with a few Jack's on the rocks and a very fine Partages cigar on the front porch swing. It doesn't get much better than that! Happy New Year to all my Valkyrie friends! Cliff.....

Only thing I can think of would be living in Colarado  after all of the Californicators go back home.

Well, yes...unless I guess you're saying Randy Newman, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, John Fogerty aren't up to snuff? (O:

Or is it the location?

California
You can't beat the south and central California coast for pleasant temperatures year round. Long Beach, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Santa Maria all have average daily highs no lower than the mid-60s for any month of the year. Nor does it get really hot. Temperatures in summer generally stay below 85 degrees. Plus there's little rain, typically fewer than 20 inches a year. Skies are mostly clear, with Los Angeles reporting sunshine for 73 percent of the time.
ref: http://www.currentresults.com/Weather/top-10-us-states-with-best-weather.php

So;
Upside, weather, year round riding, ocean and snow within an hour and a half ride/drive (mountains). Oh crap I almost forgot, most importantly no dealing with friggin' humidity or snow
Downside, because everybody and their brothers, sisters and assorted creatures moved here from the east after WWII a house in a nice neighborhood costs a lung and an arm.

..So for many Yes it's a good thing... again if you can afford it.

I can only hope they keep electing Democrats to keep raising taxes which has stemmed the tide of new comers and even sent many packing (O:

And those of us who chose to cling to "Our God and our guns" can go ahead and spend our money in other beuitiful places like MT, AZ, TX,  UT, WY, and even Canada until the  CA democrats have to ask the Fed (the rest of us) to come bail their asses out of the financial hole they have dug with their liberal agenda.  Just a matter of time.

Having grown up in Northern Illinois and lived there for 28 years, and lived in Winter Park and Fort Collins Colorado for the past 32 years, IMHO there is no place better for me Smiley

Hopefully we are sending more Liberals back where they came from after each election and moving back to a Rep. legislature.

I'd say most of us own guns and don't grow, distribute or smoke marijuana. The exception maybe being Boulder and Denver, of course crazy2

Can't argue with your facts. California can't print it own money and their spending it like sailors on leave.  Sad fact is the way California goes so goes the nation but hey California doesn't even make the top ten most liberal states those would be:

In ascending order: Hawaii 27%, New York 27.7, Rhode Island 28.3,  Washington 28.3, Connecticut 28.4%, Delaware  28.4 percent liberal, Vermont 29.2 percent liberal, Oregon  29.3 percent liberal, Massachusetts 30.5 percent liberal, And last but not least the District of Columbia  40.8 percent liberal.
ref: http://www.businessinsider.com/most-liberal-states-2013-2#9-hawaii-tie--277-percent-liberal-1

I ain't a Democrat nor a Republican as they are both owned and paid for by the ruling 1%. But what I am is a realist and there ain't no stopping this juggernaut now so live life and enjoy until we all are on government programs, like Social Security, all Welfare programs, now the Affordable Health Care Act. Basically until all personal /decisions/rights are made by the government.

My dream which will never see the light of day is to pay my fair share of taxes for infrastructure, and defense and be left to fend for my own welfare, retirement, my kids educations and some other liberties most already lost to me.

But hey SoCal does have nice weather, not to forget how this thread started.

I feel sorrow for my kids and grandkids their lives will be crap in the socialist system both Democrats and Republicans are working so hard to bring forward.

Thanks for letting me rant. I still have the opportunity to make enough to keep my grand kids out of the indoctrinate systems they call schools and will hold out until it becomes virtually impossible to do so.

Only thing I can think of would be living in Colarado  after all of the Californicators go back home.

And Texans.
I was born and raised in Colorado. I think that it is a great part of the country to live in despite the change in politics the last 20 years. I also travel to TX to hang out with my many TX friends. I really enjoy it when anyone of my Texas buddies come to visit in CO. At this point in time if I were to relocate, Texas would be at the top of my list. There are a lot of good folks in Texas and they seem to think straight, unlike the fine liberals of Colorado. You may want to push yourself back from the keyboard in April and head to TX. There will be a large group of folks from all over the country to include Texans gathering up in two of my favorite Texans back yard to eat some of the best BBQ that you will have ever tasted. I am sure that after two days at the GOTF you would most defiantly change your mind about TEXANS. On the other hand after the bad taste that you have left in their mouths, they may not change their minds about how they feel towards you.  cooldude

Sorry OZ, but being 11th on the idiot list dosen't give CA much cover.

Don't get me wrong, CA is in fact one of the most beautiful places in America and I have had some great rides up and down state.  I grew up in IN and have lived in OH for going on 40 years.  Both pretty conservative politically with some exceptions.  I wouldn't trade my politics for your weather on a permanent basis in my lifetime.

Back to the original post, my college roommate is just outside of  the Springs and my best friend from high school is just south of Denver.  We used to have a condo up at Grand Lake. I love visiting there, it's a great place to ride, but it is not on my retirement places list anymore because of the politics.  Maybe Colaradans will reclaim the rest of the state over the next 5 years before retirement and it will be on the list again.

Thanks CA is pretty darn remarkable diverse place both in people and scenery. Where I live is a bastion of conservatism but in CA we're overwhelmed by the folks in the cart and we don't know how much longer folks like us, working folks who get their money from work and not the state or the fed can keep pulling that cart

<<< Lived in Colorado for three years while stationed at Ft Carson while serving in the Army.    Loved it but, that was twenty + years ago.    Although the scenery hasn't changed much, the political climate has and there is no way I'm spending my vacation dollars there.

In reference to CA, was stationed there as a young Marine, spent a couple of years at Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station.    Since leaving the military, I've been interviewed and offered positions at least five different times over the last twenty years, not sure why I interviewed, I knew before I went in that I didn't want to live or work there.    CA does have some beautiful weather and scenery but, too damn many liberals and people trying to get their hands in my pockets.    As far as the musical event, what ever turns your crank is fine with me.    Just not anyone I'd cross the street to watch perform.    Then again, there aren't a lot of those folks anyway.
