A bit of a Stooge-phile myself. Have the book "Curly, Biography of a SuperStooge" autographed by Joan Howard Maurer, Moe's daughter. She actually appeared in one of their shorts when she was about 5 years old. Many believe that the original 3 Stooges were Moe, Larry & Curly. Actually the original 3 were Moe, Larry & Shemp. Shemp left to work with Ted Healy on the Joe Palooka movies. When they needed a 3rd Stooge Moe suggested his baby brother. Curly's given name was Jerome. He had a handlebar moustache and long hair when Moe made the suggestion. However the studio thought he did not look funny enough. Curly walked out and came back in shortly thereafter with a shaved head and no moustache. And the famous trio was now intact.

Moe, Shemp & Curly were brothers. As a youngster, Curly accidentally shot himself in the foot with a .22 rifle. He lived the rest of his life in pain. And if you watch their shorts carefully, when Curly ran, he ran with a limp.

Moe got his start in show biz by lying about his identity and acting in black face on a Mississippi river boat. His mother actually wanted him to follow her in her successful real estate business.

Larry was a virtuoso violinist. As a young boy in Philadelphia his left arm was badly burned by acid while in his father's jewelry shop. The doctor recommended taking up the violin as therapy and Larry went on to become very proficient with the instrument.

Curly was the first of the Stooges to die in 1952 from complications of a stroke in earlier years. Shemp died of a massive heart attack in 1955 in the back seat of a cab while leaving a boxing match. Larry died in 1974 after a stroke. And Moe died in 1975 of lung cancer.

My favorits scene of all tinme is where a platter is served and Curly lifts the lid and its a large crab.
He says, "Eh,,, a tarantula". Through the magic of the remote, I can watch that over and over again.
