Well I have been in MA for two weeks get to fly home tomorrow 6 am for the weekend .... What a cold place ,and hasn't realy got COLD yet .... Prob be here until April or May .....there is talk of me going to either KC or St. Louis next ???
I know I will taking a ride Saturday as the weather in beautiful Tennessee is supposed to be high 50's and no rain or white stuff ...
Last Friday night the fire alarm at the hotel went off and we all had to stand in the cold because someone burnt some fried chicken ? Then Wednesday as I pull in from work the fire trucks are back .... Another chicken burner ?!?!!
Hopefully when I get 40 my house will be paid for and I can cut back on the work ?!?! At least my wife says I better ... coolsmiley
Sorry for the rambling ......just bored in this hotel and excited to be to go home or the weekend ....
Last Saturday I drove Over to Plymouth rock .....what a let down ..... It's just a rock...... tickedoff

I know how you fell with the working out of town. Did it for several years until I got married and had a kid on the way. Gave it up to be home and worked a couple crappy jobs for a couple years. Now I have a great job, home every night and it pays well too. Helps when they hire you to run the show  Grin I can even skip out of work every once in a while and meet up with rainman and hal for an afternoon ride. You will get there buddy, just hang in there.  cooldude

Yep, its just a rock, and, not much of a rock at that. I guess some of it has been busted up and stolen over the years. But, its still a nice area with quite a bit to see. I don't think this is the time if year to see it all though.

Worst blizzard I've ever seen was a Nor'easter in Boston on March 31st. Snow was blowin sideways so hard it was sticking to the building walls over 6" deep. We were the last plane in and out for a day. I was just changing planes...  Cheesy

If you get to Plymouth again, forget about the rock! Try to find out if Plimoth Plantation (yup, that's how they spell it) is open. It is a re-created village of what life was like for the first Pilgrims there. Very interesting.  cooldude

BTW, the Rock has a big crack in it, that they repaired. I was told by someone in Plymouth, that they used to load the rock onto a trailer and take it through the streets of the town during a Parade. On one of those loading-it-on-the-trailer gigs, it was dropped, and broke. And now, you know the rest of the story!

As for it being cold up there, yup, you are correct my friend. That's why I choose to live in Florida during winters.  Wink

And as for hating being in hotels when working out of town, I used to be a Field Service Engineer covering all of New England and beyond... Instead of staying in the hotels, I'd rather drive a couple of hours or more, just to give the kids a kiss while they were sleeping. They never noticed, but I did, and it kept me out of bars and out of trouble.   cooldude

Good advice Pete.

Definitely, New England sucks in the winter, unless your into skiing, skating, snowmobiling, ice racing, ice fishing, winter hiking and camping, etc.

NON of which I do any longer. Too COLD!

Boston has a lot of things to see and if you like Italian, check out the North End. Yumm!

If you have the energy and a good pair of shoes, walk the Freedom Trail in Boston; it will give you all you need to know why New England is a true cradle of liberty.  Those people were tough.  Tough enough to put it all on the line when it came to what was important about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  If you do walk it, just imagine what it was to be present during that time and at that place without all the concrete, buildings, people, vehicles, and conveniences of these centuries past.

Growing up in New England is like no other place in the States; the beginnings of our nations history oozes from every town and county from Maine to Connecticut.  We were schooled in our regional history and about the people who contributed in the war and peace during the Revolution.

Check out the museums that are everywhere there and you'll be amazed, educated, and happy to have met the natives. cooldude

Born and bred in Massachusetts. I've always loved history, and appreciated that it all started here. I consider myself lucky to have been able to go on field trips to all those places kids in other parts of the country could only read about.

And yes, Plymouth Rock is a bit under-whelming. The Pilgrims actually first set foot on the Outer Cape and found it not to their liking. They then went across the bay and landed in Plymouth....http://www.history.com/news/the-real-story-behind-plymouth-rock
