I have been on bikes since the late sixties, and I have had my share of mishaps.  The latest one almost killed me.  I have been hospitalized all four times I crashed.  This morning I hooked up with a dozen other old fogies and decided I needed to find out if the thrill was gone.  I was pretty Leary about the prospect of a real ride since it has been  the middle of September since I rode.  It was also 22 degrees at sunrise when I left the house.  I was on the maiden voyage of the vintage goldwing that I purchased to replace the fatlady, which is being restored by my Texas friend Uturn, who purchased it.
After 40 miles under my belt, I was less nervous and by the time we reached our destination I knew I was back.  After a round trip of 260 miles and a great meal with the old guys on a sunny but chilly day, I feel twenty years younger than my 68 years. Hoser  cooldude Cool

Well done.

Temper the pace and allow for the years.

Whilst remembering everyone else is trying to kill you.

Yes, that includes some on 2 wheels.  Sad

Good for you Hoser. I can identify with the calender mark of 68. We have to except some of our limitations and carry on with what we
can do. That appears to be what you I doing. Gods speed in you continued heeling and safe riding. Sweet looking ride.

Very glad to see that you're back in the wind.

I've always liked the four cylinder Gold Wings.  My '86 was one of my favorite bikes.

At a near 87 years of age. I'm not sure what the next riding season will bring. I had my left knee become very painful about a month ago. It's better now but.............

I guess I should let you all know that the first two Hospital stays were during my Motocross days in the 60's and seventies, an endeavor I apparently was not very good at.    Shocked  The later roadkills were on the street, caused by other motorists.  They all hurt the same, though.  Roll Eyes  Thank you all for the good vibes. Sorry I'm late to the party in congratulating you for throwing the leg over a two wheeler again, Hoser.
I second those who say you have a beautiful vintage Wing there.  I've also spent time in a hospital and doing recovery from numerous broken bones after a girl took me out in an accident. I had to plead with my wife and grown kids to let me get another Valk and ride again.

I don't regret the decision one bit. I told my family I'd rather die tomorrow riding a bike than live to be 90, afraid to get up out of my rocking chair.

I dearly love that ole 4 banger, back in the day I had an 86 SEi, fuelie Gold Wing.

Was a great bike once I figured out why it would keep stalling out on me on a hot day and some spirited riding.

Fuel pump was placed toooooo close to the exhaust.     It would get hot off of the exhaust pipe and BOIL the gas in the tank from the heat.

Actually, I'd give a nickle to have that fuelie back.

Yes, it is, only got 98,000 miles on it and runs almost as smooth as a Valk.   Cool

That first ride is a tough thing to do isn't it? Mine was pretty tough. What is worse than "white knuckle" cause that was where I was. Don't think about it much anymore.
