Had time for a 20 mile or so test ride, everything works. Nothing fell off.
Now I need to go 200 miles and see how that feels... besides all the work
on the handlebars, I added long arms on the Kuryakyn hiway pegs. Seems
like it will be comfortable  cooldude ...

The windshield is too tall and too narrow, I can cut it down, but not
make it wider... at least it is leaning back...

I know you put a ton of work into those bars, glad everything seems like its going to work out the way you hoped.

I think the work you did looks real nice, Mike. It's a mean looking machine!

They'll be coming if the other problems are really solved... I'll keep riding it
and fiddling with the windshield and stuff for a little while before I $ink anything
like that into it...

We are planning a ride on Feb. 13-14-15 2015 down into middle Tennessee to ride out some small dams and the roads around the reservoir's . Its a holiday weekend if you get President's Day off ( 16th ) . You should come and ride with the cool kids  cooldude   T-Bird - Wimp and Smokinjoe have already confirmed they are in so you know Gordon will wait to the last minute to say he's going plus the folks that live down that way will probably join us as well. This is the same weekend we did the " Haunted Tunnel Ride " last year... I'll be making a thread soon with the details.... Bring It ...LETS RIDE  Smiley

A ride with the wild bunch sounds great... mounting the Givi trunk on the black bike's rear rack is
one of the things I'll fiddle with between now and then...  cooldude

I made a big change in the way the windshield is mounted today,
and I can see over it. As tiny as it is, it splits the air around me pretty
well. Being able to see makes a huge difference, I might really get to like this
thing now  cooldude ...

I guess I got a few fingerprints on there while working on it...  Roll Eyes

Thanks for the tip...

What with the cat-catchers, I doubt there's any chance of getting a
real shield, like on 1500 Valkyries, on this bike. Any shield might
have to mount on the handlebars. This shield maybe could be
wider, though the cutaways near the bottom let my new long
throttle cables pass by without interference...

Why couldn't a wider shield fit the same way as the one you have?

The edge would bang into the tupperware?

Wider at the bottom might bump into the cat-catchers at full lock.

Wider at the top might be nice, especially in the rain, but wimpy
handlebar mounts might not be able to resist the wind if you put
up too big of a sail... the OEM mounts weren't wimpy, but the
windshield was awful and none of that comes anywhere near
close to fitting on my bike now.

Real fork mounts would take a lot of doing what with all the plastic
around the upper fork legs, and stuff there would be tucked right into
the cat-catchers...

This little shield has very little buffeting (I only went around 60 or so)
and the air shoots around me to each side, and hits me in the
upper helmet... I can tilt it up a little more and maybe still see over it,
I'm going to try that. I really enjoyed my fully sighted test ride on my
newly comfortable hot rod this afternoon  cooldude

The new Valkyrie is growing on me the more and more I see the mods that will eventually come out for it.  It has a great platform to work from, too bad mother Honda didn't get it all right to begin with as what I feel they should have to begin with.

I still think the F6B is a better value for the price.
