It left Hong Kong this morning at 8:21am. It's in Anchorage Alaska as I type this. It will be delivered to me in South Georgia on Monday. Amazing world we live in.  cooldude

What are you going to do with it?

Home surveillance. This particular one is for the back porch, it's a pan and tilt camera. The one it's replacing got hit by lightning.

Yup, amazing... I've got several of those scattered around the house to keep an eye on the kiddos. It's pretty cool, I can look in, including at night (These $35 web cams not only can move around, they've not night vision too!) on 'em from anywhere in the world from a computer or a phone or tablet...

(And yeah, it's been secured... Don't want EVERYONE looking in!)

They're also handy for checking on things outside.  You can get the weatherproof outdoor version, or just point one out a window.

We get a lot of afternoon thunderstorms here in the summer.  I'll often check on my phone before heading home, ad if I see a storm rolling in I'll pull over in one of those establishments with all the Harleys parked out front.

I have an old one I got on Amazon for $350... $35 sounds ten times better  Smiley ...

Mine hooks to the house wireless network and has an internal web server
you connect to with a browser to configure it. It can be configured to do a lot of
stuff, I configured it to be motion triggered and send pictures via email to
my gmail account. Do these $35 ones have all that?

I only have mine hooked up when I'm gone. So far the only pictures are of the
lady who feeds the cats, and the yellow cat on the counter...

I bought 2 DLink IP cameras from Best Buy a few months ago.  They had all the configuration features you describe.  They were on sale for $69 or so.  Electronics are such bargains these days.  Gasoline is too -- I just filled my car for what I used to pay to fill my Valkyrie IS!

Do you have a reliable ebay vendor you've had good transactions with?  I would like to find a low cost alternative for brand "x" cameras.

I've got one high def 1080p camera and the rest are 640 x 480. The image quality of the high def is way better that the low res ones but it does have some management issues. Fortunately, SS which comes with Synology NAS's can take over complete control of the camera and does an excellent job. As for the low res ones, I think they're all made by the same company so go for the cheapest.

The new one is a 960p outdoor weatherproof camera with pan and tilt.
