The news has been full of stuff about the "botched execution" that the guy took45 minutes to die. He had murdered a young girls, if memory serves he buried her alive. The executoin was not botched, he died. Now all executions are on hold for the review of the drugs used. What about we open a lottery where you send $20 and your contact info. A week before the execution you are drawn like a lottery and bring the deer rifle and 2 rounds, one sighter one for the deed. Draw 6 people and "git r dun".
These people  don't give a damn about their victims but we have to molly ocddle them like babies. how do you think the families of the victims feel having to hear about this stuff every night on the news. What about the victims!! Angry

Also a  whole lot cheaper than hiring a doctor to administer the drugs.

I have probably given patients gallons of Versed(midazolam) over the past 25 years, and I can guarantee you that this creep didn't suffer AT ALL....... like he really should have.

I agree.  The intended purpose was served.

Says something for our culture that we've gotten unreasonably concerned about "humane" quality of executions.  The result is death.  What's the real point?

No cruel and unusual punishment for the low life sumbitches that do the devils work.  uglystupid2 How bout we let the punishment fit the crime?  cooldude I for one think it's only appropriate if ANY death row prisoner takes "longer" than "normal" to expire.  Evil Were the devils henchmen worried about who and how they murdered someone?  Undecided I M H O-not only no-but hell no-they weren't.  Lips Sealed Again-I M H O-they can ask for mercy come judgment day. RIDE SAFE.

And, something tells me that unlike the (Mostly European) drug companies who keep trying to shut off the flow of drugs to the executions, the ammo companies wouldn't mind so much...

Heck, I bet some of 'em would even supply free ammo just for the advertising rights!

"Buy Bubba's Brand Ammo, preferred by 9 out of 10 executioners of child murderers!"

I do have to add a serious side note though, anyone else see the dichotomy between threads like this, and the earlier one decrying the Saudi's for beheading a women who had raped and murdered a child?

I can think of many better ways to execute the scum that did far more than just murder an 11 month old girl. It would have been a long painful death had he been given what he deserved.

The 8th Amd says no cruel and unusual executions.  It does not say they must be fast (though long cannot be painful).  A drug death that took a week might be unusual but it would not be cruel so long as it was painless with no suffering.

Properly conducted beheading (guillotine, axe, sword), hanging, gas, electricity, firing squad, drugs are neither cruel or unusual.

They should also be public, but debarred for minors (and no sales of alcohol).

Claims that executions do not deter capital crime are lies.

30 years on death row probably does not deter capital crimes.

Of course we have gotten to the PC drug-coma-death executions to stave off the outlaw-all-capital-punishment crowd.

My recommendation, specifically for muslim terrorists, is to inject them with something similar to saxitoxin. If there is something that will do a better job of leaving them paralyzed, yet completely conscious and able to feel, I'd use it. Then put them in a hog pen and let them watch and feel it as they are turned into pig s#!t.
Record it and be sure it's easily available in the s#!tstan countries producing these jackwads. Let them know that is the fate that awaits them once the go down the terrorist path.

dead is dead, we have to feel bad if it takes some time? not in my book. maybe we can let the ones that tortured their victims die slow?

Whatever form of Capital Punishment is used should be seen by as many people as possible. Only then will it become a true deterrent.

Therefore, I propose all executions should be conducted at halftime of Monday Night Football.

I still think the guillotine would be the most efficient, effective, humane way to carry out the death penalty. I personally don't want to watch people being executed but if others do, I have no problem with that. I don't want my grandkids seeing it though.

I think I read somewhere once that there's evidence (or maybe speculation...who knows) that one still has consciousness for a second or two after being separated from ones head.

If that's true, I'm not all that sure that swiftly cutting ones head off would be "humane" anymore than cutting it off slowly.

That drug is one of the things that almost killed me last summer when I went in for kidney cancer surgery.

It took them three days to wake me up off of that crap. And then, all I have is bits and pieces for about a week after that.
