He's thinking of buying it but according to him, the smoke is blue and smells of burned oil. Told me it runs/idles great, but when you goose it the amount of smoke increases. I'm thinking if there's no rough running or hesitation, it may well be just valve seals on the one side....possibly just one cylinder. Any thoughts/suggestions?  I also seem to recall from a long while back that if the Dragon Drool wasn't drained and backed up into the intake system it also could create such smoky clouds.

I have no personal experience on the issue. But recall the following.

Since it's the right side, that's the high side, I wouldn't expect oil burning from there.

I think I would suspect stuck rings.

Now, does it smoke on acceleration, or deceleration?

If I remember my automotive correctly. Acceleration smoke is the rings, and deceleration is the seals.

John I have had a lot of Valkyrie heads apart and I have never seen one with bad valve seal causing it to smoke. I would be looking at the drool tube. One other thing I seem to remember that someone said that if body scavenge oil pump strainer found near the clutch in the rear cover was missing that it would cause it to smoke. I hope this helps you
