What does the Grove do?

We use it to set steel towers however that is not its only use.

Excuse my ignorance.

Set towers?

Hold the various sections in place as they are "bolted" together?

Correct.... Most are150/200 feet high however some reach 300 plus a " jib  " is used with those.

I used to work on bridges bolting parapet handrails rails into place.

None over 100ft high. BUT that was a long way from the ground when standing on the "wrong" side of the rail. With no safety harness. Way before health and safety  Shocked  Young, dumb and invincible earning good money.   Cheesy

I can't imagine working that high. Although as you know after the first 20 feet it doesn't matter how high when you fall.

I taught my wife crane signals.  She loves to see guys faces when she drives by a crew and gives them the boom up and hold the load signal.

Is it just me, or does that Grove machine's wheels almost touch the ground on the trailer?

Best not taking any corners with that big rig or you might be taking out houses along with the mailboxes.  Am sure you have to have a planned, as much as possible, straight road route for such a large rig.  No inner city routes allowed.
