Don't threaten me with a good time

« on: January 25, 2015, 04:50:22 PM »

Some photo's I took at work a few days ago. The new 2015 M-series tracked feller bunchers. We've been building since October. At this point, it has been a long process of getting the bugs worked out on the manufacturing end. Sheet metal parts not fitting up correctly, refining assembly processes, etc.

Release video on John Deere's website

Undercarriage marriage station

859M, includes leveling system table

Paint Booth

Some views from the captains chair

Larger 953M with enclosure open

The remaining 700J series units that have been discontinued awaiting pickup...

New M-series units that have been completed awaiting pickup.

The other piece of forestry equipment biult on the adjacent assembly line, 437D Knuckleboom loaders. We sell a lot of these in the southern states to pulp mills.

Heard the feller that sits here is one of them worthless engineers

If you ever find your way up this area, I can get you on a gold key tour of the factory. JD Dubuque works builds a majority of construction and forestry equipment.

Impressive machines, I have a FB and a couple of Skidders in my area that I work on. The electronics on these machines are getting ridiculous. Even the new J.D. round balers have to have a controller and display screen just to operate. There are 9 controllers on the new Combines. Have been on a couple of gold key tours with customers at the harvester works and Waterloo. Very cool! Hard to keep up with all the new technology.  Getting time to think about retirement.

When I drove for Keen Transport hauled a lot of Cat equipment. Also some J C B. Drove most of the equipment on the trailers either from a load dock or with the removable goose neck as the trailer front set on the ground. THEN after getting the piece on the trailer tieing it down correctly and safely. Not bragging but there is an art to chaining and strapping something down and going 10 miles or 3000 miles or more. And more than once some equipment was broken down to multiple trailer loads. I cringe when I see a small dozer or a small tractor with one tiny strap on it going down the highway!  uglystupid2 Reb-gonna have to get up there and partake of a tour.  cooldude Dad took us to an equipment show in Chicago a LONG time ago. I remember walking under a wheeled loader and not ducking. Been hooked on big equipment since. Reb-not sayin you got a good job fer a gear head-BUT you got a good job fer a gear head!  2funny RIDE SAFE.
