How much would it have cost taxpayers to treat those people if they didn't have Obamacare? Would it have been a savings of money or would it have cost more money? Either way, the taxpayers foot the bill.
Actually, not all of the cost would be paid by tax money. many hospitals write of their bad debt. Also many hospitals forgive bad debt to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Of course, writing it off has a tax advantage to the hospitals that do it. It would have been better left alone until a reasonable plan and method could have been developed. Exactly and if it is a Non-Profit Hospital (which most that don't get paid are as private hospitals can refuse treatment to non-insured) they don't pay tax anyway.

I just sat down to look at the IRS form 1040a which I use to do my taxes. Noticed question #38 asked if I had Health Care insurance. Wonder what would happen if I said yes and didn't have insurance. How many IRS returns would be checked by those agents? How would they know for sure I didn't have insurance? Given the fact that IRS is going to be backlogged this year and probably for the next few years, How many would be checked?
So if I lied then what would be the chances of someone finding out that I didn't have it?
I have no idea what the chances of discovery are. (probably not very good, right now) Of course, if you checked YES without insurance (and it was later discovered), it was not an intentional lie (unless you admit it was), it was simply an error in preparing your return. It is generally very difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a man knowingly lied about anything... without a stupid admission by that man. Of course this does not mean you could not end up with an audit, multiple years of amended returns, back taxes, penalties and interest. When Jesus said to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's......... Caesar did not have 120lbs of Tax Code and an electronic data base. I spent sometime yesterday (injured shoulder so have a lot of done time) looking at the form for explaining why you should be exempt for not having O'Care. It's only a dozen pages long and kind of confusing. Think it would be easier to just check the box. By the way I still have health insurance from job I retired from.

I think there's a form you receive from your insurer that confirms your coverage. It gets submitted with your return.

Not sure, but didn't see where that was required when you checked the box on 1040a #38. But others can check to see if one if required. I haven't gotten any paper work from our insurance folks. Though my Annuity form (sort of like a W2) I get does show there was money paid to insurance (comes out of monthly pay check).

I dont agree with the ACA and have my own insurance through my employer. I have met one patient that signed up for it and thinks it is great and in her case it is she couldn't get insurance before because of pre existing conditions. Having said that just how are they going to collect the penalty from those that don't have insurance? They wont period. We see just as many un-insured patients today as we did before the ACA came to be.
The IRS collects it when they file their taxes. But remember, half the country has no tax liability and doesn't file. Exactly and it will just make more not file at all. So they will never collect it but pass it on to us Working saps But they are supposed to file. That's how we know that half the workers don't make enough to pay taxes, then they get they're payroll withholding taxes back. If they don't file, they don't get the withholding taxes back.

I don't do our own taxes, thats what tax guys are of. But, we've never submitted anything or received anything concerning health insurance. If we had I doubt I would have given them that info anyway. To me, its none of their damn business.

Well, my insurance is changing. Because of demanded changes in our coverage by Obamacare, our insurance is changing.
For basically the same coverage, plus the coverage increase demanded by Obamacare, such as maternity for me, a 60 year old male!, our premium is increasing from Just over $900 for my wife and I, to over $1800 per month!
With deductible, this means that our health insurance will cost us the first $21,000 of our income! Really!? $21,000 for two people per year? Holy c**p!
Thank you, Democrats. NOT
And, they stand up there, and tell us how great it is! Lying S*BS!

You wish suffering on people that didn't vote the way you voted ? The spousal unit just took a road trip with our 3.5 year old triplets to visit her dad's farm in Florida. While there, Blake, the most precocious of the three (And that's saying something) had a fascination with the electric fence that kept the cows outta the yard. This is the kind of electric fence that only pulses once a minute or so. He'd been repeatedly told to stay away from and do NOT touch the electric fence my his mother, his grandfather, his grandmother, and even his siblings got in on the act and were telling him to stay away from it. He didn't listen, he knew better, and was determined to climb that electric fence. Eventually they gave up and figured the best way for him to learn that lesson was with a little pain, so off he went, and he climbed the electric fence. He was at the top of it when the fence pulsed. He jumped down, a look of utter shock and betrayal on his face, which gradually morphed into understanding and wisdom as he declared "The fence bit me!" Did the lesson cause him suffering? Yup, sure did... But, he learned the lesson. And at least in his case millions of others weren't forced to suffer along with him as well in order for him to learn that lesson. Serk, my youngest son also learned the hard way on an electric fence. Grandpa had the hottest module he could find due to a stubborn old bull he had. We told him to stay away from the fence, BUT, he had to learn the hard way. We were in the pasture by the pond looking for frogs, to get a batch of frog legs. He told me he had to take a pee. Ornery grandpa told him to go pee on the fence. Now to get the picture straight, grass was wet from the morning dew. So he whipped it out and let er rip. About the time it hit the fence she pulsed and he got a gooooooooood shocker. He took off for the house leaving a weak water trail behind him. He staid in the house the rest of the day. Grandma asked him what was wrong, as it wasn't natural for him to loaf around the house when on the farm. He told grandma, he peed on the fence, and it made his things down there shrivel up to nothing and to make them hurt awful bad. Yup, grandpa and I got a very very very good ass eatin by grandma. She lit with both feet and her fist just a flyin. Son did learn to not pee on the fence again. To get even with her grandpa hooked an old Model 'T' coil to the cave door. She took the shotgun after him on that one. Glad I wasn't at the farm when that occurred.

$1,800 is a phuking mortgage on a really nice house, including the property taxes, in most really nice neighborhoods. Don't forget the deductibles. If you get sick, the deductibles could equal the utilities on that really nice house, in that really nice neighborhood, that you are paying for, and get no interest tax deduction for. You just can't live in it.

Exactly. Just like education. The Progressives have sunk their teeth in so far deep that we're so far gone. Voting for a conservative now is like putting a car in cruise control until the next lib/prog is in and increases speed again. We'll never be able to right this ship. From all I've seen, heard, and read over the past as many years, the progressive M.O. is to destroy the middle class to even everyone out. The top 1% they cry about is a bait and switch. The yell about taxing the rich, but you can't tax them because of the tax scams provided to them so the only ones who see new taxes are in the middle class. And they continue to get 1/2 the middle class to vote for them. Obamacare is the ultimate tax increase on the middle class. The poor get it for free. Lower middle class gets date raped as they get some form of "assistance" in subsidies. Middle and upper-middle get gang raped with higher premiums and deductibles. And the rich are still rich. They have convinced way too many people that they can never better themselves. That where they are is where they will stay because the folks above them are keeping them there. That the guy who borrowed everything to buy a Wendy's is exploiting the unskilled people he hires to do unskilled labor. That they shouldn't bother to better themselves, or acquire a set of skills, or educate themselves, because you can't get out from the oppression from those with more money. One of the many "wars" the left has created, but yells that the right is fighting.

Someone posted that someone that hasn't worked a day in their life will get free health care coverage. The shell game is just that! Sure they have coverage, but if the Doctor you need wont take Obama Care or Medicaid because of the lower payout, then its like have a warranty on your car but not a mechanic available to fix it. Its a ruse to take over the American economy and control every aspect of our lives. Its not about health care at all. The free handouts need to stop, that is not what America was built on! Once you think its humane to give someone what they need because they wont work for it, then you have to be more and more humane until you run out of other people's money

With so many failed State exchanges, questions need to be asked about the haphazard allocation of billions of dollars in taxpayer funds and the complete lack of oversight.
