Obozo doesn't care.  He promised the insurance company lobbyists that they'd be getting 30 million new customers. 

Insurance company lobbyists helped to write the damn thing in the first place....and they were licking their chops at the prospect of all that new money. 

The penalties were meant to scare the potential new customers into buying the insurance.  After all, who wants to pay a fine for not buying something. 

My youngest son doesn't have employer provided healthcare.  He can't afford the Obozo care...even with subsidies.  He's gonna have to pay the fine this year.....and next year, it's gonna go up even higher.

There were a couple here that said they did sign up for it and how great they thought it was or would be. Haven't heard more from them.

My son and family has.  Is it working?  Well, they pay $650 a month now, subsidized. No insurance before.

But..........

There is a $5000 deductible per person.  $10,000 family deduction.

Sooooooo....... Before it pays, they will be paying $10k deductible, plus $7800 premiums, total $17,800!

Really?  This is insurance for those who, before Obamacare, "could not afford it".

Can they afford $17.8k?  No.  Is it working?  You tell me.

Dems say Obamacare is working, because more are covered.  Repubs say it is not, because the cost is high.  A number who had insurance before, are paying more now.  there are winners, and losers.

The worst part is, the cost, as projected by the GAO, keeps going up and up.  Obama promised, again, that it would not cost one thin dime.  Well, it isn't.  The GAO says the shortfall, which will have to be covered by taxpayers, is approaching 1 TRILLION over the next ten years. Not one dime.

The spousal unit just took a road trip with our 3.5 year old triplets to visit her dad's farm in Florida.

While there, Blake, the most precocious of the three (And that's saying something) had a fascination with the electric fence that kept the cows outta the yard. This is the kind of electric fence that only pulses once a minute or so.

He'd been repeatedly told to stay away from and do NOT touch the electric fence my his mother, his grandfather, his grandmother, and even his siblings got in on the act and were telling him to stay away from it.

He didn't listen, he knew better, and was determined to climb that electric fence.

Eventually they gave up and figured the best way for him to learn that lesson was with a little pain, so off he went, and he climbed the electric fence. He was at the top of it when the fence pulsed.

He jumped down, a look of utter shock and betrayal on his face, which gradually morphed into understanding and wisdom as he declared "The fence bit me!"

Did the lesson cause him suffering? Yup, sure did... But, he learned the lesson. And at least in his case millions of others weren't forced to suffer along with him as well in order for him to learn that lesson.

This is not insurance, it is strong armed robbery (defined as robbery not with a weapon but with a clear threat of and ability to use force).  Of course it cannot be called criminal because it is law.  We killed British Redcoats around Boston for the same type of Crown laws/behavior.

It seems unlikely that his combined family annual medical expense (under normal conditions) would amount to $7800 (uninsured), even including the penalty.

I would not voluntarily pay the penalty until they made me (levied on my bank account or home).  They could confiscate whatever tax refund may be coming on a joint return.  Other than that, let them eat cake.  (I suppose they could start adding costs & attorney fees of forced collection of the penalty)

People facing an uninsured penalty should arrange their W4s (and other things) to reduce withholding so there is no refund due, only a (small) liability come filing time.  After all, tax refunds are nothing but interest free loans to the G.  If they add the penalty to the tax debt, tell them you don't have it, but will send in five bucks a month. (then don't) 

This is not sound legal advice, it is resistance to tyranny.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another,....

So everyone that has different political ideas and votes different from you
1) Is deserving of suffering
2) Is no smarter than a 3.5 year old
I'm sure you and I agree on more than we disagree on politically , but even if we disagreed on everything I would never consider wishing suffering on you or dismiss your ideas as childish. I doubt you truly wish suffering on people who vote different than you but maybe you do. I don't know what's in your heart.

Well it has been this way for many many years. Was it perfect Hell No but this is Not any Better it is just the Government trying to control one more part of your life. I am a Physicians Assistant and within the last year there are all kinds of new questions that we have to ask patients and (I don't know this for fact) but the questions seem to be leading to insurance companies having a reason not to pay for certain things ie if you are fat or smoke or have ever smoked. Look above and read where one member said his son has Insurance through this act and he would have to spend $17k before the insurance pays one penny that is crazy and his premium is $650 a month with a subsidy. Asinine.

I just sat down to look at the IRS form 1040a which I use to do my taxes.   Noticed question #38 asked if I had Health Care insurance.   Wonder what would happen if I said yes and didn't have insurance.   How many IRS returns would be checked by those agents?  How would they know for sure I didn't have insurance?  Given the fact that IRS is going to be backlogged this year and probably for the next few years, How many would be checked?

So if I lied then what would be the chances of someone finding out that I didn't have it?

I have no idea what the chances of discovery are.  (probably not very good, right now)

Of course, if you checked YES without insurance (and it was later discovered), it was not an intentional lie (unless you admit it was), it was simply an error in preparing your return.  It is generally very difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a man knowingly lied about anything... without a stupid admission by that man.

Of course this does not mean you could not end up with an audit, multiple years of amended returns, back taxes, penalties and interest.

When Jesus said to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's......... Caesar did not have 120lbs of Tax Code and an electronic data base.

Yup, the Prez wouldn't want to encourage people to do the responsible thing and actually save for college.  He'd rather collect the tax dollars and have the public dependent on the gov't pay for the first two years. That way his "base" would be more likely to get a free ride.

How much would it have cost taxpayers to treat those people if they didn't have Obamacare?  Would it have been a savings of money or would it have cost more money?  Either way, the taxpayers foot the bill.

Actually, not all of the cost would be paid by tax money. many hospitals write of their bad debt. Also many hospitals forgive bad debt to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.   Of course, writing it off has a tax advantage to the hospitals that do it.
It would have been better left alone until a reasonable plan and method could have been developed.

The IRS just got whacked in the budget. Returns have to be filed electronically now because of their personall cut backs. I would think that would mean fewer audits, sooooo.

I've been reading reports about more uninsured now than before this mess.

I do think that some are no smarter than a 3 year old, look what they elected, TWICE !

Now the nit-wit wants to do away with 529's and provide college educations to the tune of how many billions. This guy is absolutely nutz.

Oh no he isn't.

He's backed out of the 529 suggestion which the willingly ignorant will percevie from the Lib/Dem/Prog news media as the liar in chief winning for them.

Did he change his mind on 529s all by himself, or, was he forced to change his mind and then try to take credit for it.


After claiming it was only the RICH who used the 529 plans he got beat up by Repubs and some Dems.






OH, OK, only the rich used 529s. Imagine that. I Learn something every day, I did not know that.
