It looks like the cancer that I have beaten and the wounds from Vietnam are going to make me give up both of my Valkyries.  Undecided  I am not giving up riding as I am actively looking for a trike.

Here in Wyoming, there aren't any used trikes listed anywhere.  I need the reverse as the shoulder was messed up when I was on the receiving side of a VC claymore.  Time hasn't been all that good to the body, but I have no regrets.  Cool

I have been a longtime member of this board and a lurker most of the time, but I know my limitations.

Ride Safe!

Nothin' but a thing.   Wink

Life's little bumps in the road sometimes jar us in a different direction.

I have/had kidney cancer twice now.  I've only rode my bike less than a handful of times since recovering from this last surgery last summer....it's really taken a lot out of me, and I'm still not really fully recovered from it yet.  The bike sure is a lot heavier now than it used to be.  Sad

Thoughts of selling mine keep crossing my mind from time to time.  But selling is defeat in my mind...and I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

First and foremost bro-WELCOME Home.  cooldude I have a good friend here in southern Mo. who is giving up ridin entirely because of blood clot issues.  Undecided I'll be 70 next month and consider myself VERY fortunate to still be riding. Smokinjoe posted here on the-never mind-you need reverse!  Lips Sealed Good luck on your quest bro. I have a patch on my vest that reads-We went and served with honor and pride now leave me alone and let me ride!  cooldude Go-Ride. PEACE and RIDE SAFE.

John,

First off, thank you for your Service. I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues. Whatever path you follow, I hope you still get to feel the open wind in some capacity. If it's on a trike, so be it.
I wish you well and good luck if you sell your bikes and look for three wheels!

Gave up my Valk 6 months ago, mistake.  I did it for other reasons but after having it for 12 years and 160000 miles I sure do miss it.

Thank you for your service and welcome home brother.
Smokingjoe posted a link to a trike . I believe it is on page three of general board. Someone lives near there. Check it out.

I just read the Polaris Slingshot was recalled and dealers are informed to not sell any of them until the recall is fixed.  I think it has something to do with the safety of the head restraint did not meet standards in the event of a crash/rollover.

Neat concept, but pricey.  I'd give a used Wing trike or used Can Am spyder a test drive and see if one of those tickles your fancy.  Pretty sure the Wing trike will be more to your liking since I sat once on the Spyder and the stock handlebars were not upright enough (had to lean over a tad) and the stock seat was hard as a rock, both of which am sure can be replaced to your liking.

Not sure if any other trikes have reverse besides a Wing or Spyder?

I saw the sling shot at SEMA last fall.  My getting into and out of it would be a problem.

Thanks for the well wishes.

my son, who works at a Polaris dealer, says its something in the bearings in the rack and pinion steering. they fail, and you can't steer!

That's right henry,  loss of steering was the recall,  but heard about the headrests as well.  I stand corrected, never a good idea to buy the first year run on anything, except the 1997 Valkyrie,  supposedly the fastest year of them all, or most say so.
