This might just do it.

Saw this bike for sale today.  The price was waaaay more than I'd ever spend on it, but it was pretty.

Victory Cross Country....supposed to be with a bunch of options on it.

They are nice bikes. I test drove one of these, I noticed a lack of power compared to the valk. That probably true for any v twin

Yeah Bruce, I like the 8-ball cross country (I posted over in the What Other Valk Would You Like thread).  Same bike without the goofy water wings.  Unless those wings are some kind of metal engine guard, they would appear to go flying into bits on a tip over, let alone a dump while rolling. Bars are not stock either, but i like them (I'd pull them back and down some).  One of the very few twins I would consider.

True enough Mike, but some of us get old and/or physically unable to safely handle the weight of the superior Valk.   Smiley

Traded my Valk for one of those,,, not that fancy tho. Mine is a 2011, that was the year they were after Harley and they came with alot of goodies that now are options (passenger boards, crash bars everyone except me hates etc). They have a different power curve and feel lighter. I wanted an Interstate but found the prices in 2011 for a used good Interstate were not much less that the Victory new and I got a 5 year warranty. Victory seems to have alot more room than the Harley and I did not like the sitting position on the Valk for longer rides. Large boards on the Victory leave alot of room to move your legs around. Victory may not be for everyone but I like mine and would not go back.

That Indian listed above is definitely tempting... but pricy.

I came VERY close to buying one of these:

I purchased a Victory Cross Country Tour back in July. The trunk can be removed in five minutes or less, for the super "V" look. Six gears, fuel injected, beautiful style lines . . . she rides and handles like a dream. The fuel economy is nice, too. She's a keeper.  Cool

That Victory over that Indian for me.  The Indians had issues with the leather bags, and that one seems to have some issues as well.  Fiberglass or Plastic bags don't sag, fade or wear like those leather ones.  And when the bags wear, it takes away from the whole bike and it all looks worn, rode hard and put up wet.

I sat on a Victory Cross Country and liked the roominess as well and looks sharp.  It seemed the stock handlebars were pulled back much further away from the way forward upfront fairing, but ergos were very good and huge floorboards and plenty of wiggle room.  The ultra classic HD's, etc. and all other HD's seem tiny in the seat and overall not roomy enough for my liking.

I'd rate the Victory right up there as #1 or #2 for Vtwins much like the honda VTX1800.   I'd take a wing or f6b and even a new valkyrie over any Vtwin though.   cooldude

I had cams, Power Commander V, timing wheel etc. on my Hard Ball (same engine, same bike basically) and you couldn't be more correct.  It was the second worst bike I've ever purchased.  It only beats the VROD for second place because at least the Hard Ball was comfortable.

The seller sure as heck seems to think it's a Victory Cross Country.

I don't wanna get in a pissin' contest with you because I don't know squat about Victorys, but did you notice the for sale flyer that he has stuck to the windshield in the pic at the bottom of my post?

This is it.....

And this is his Craigslist ad....

A 24K, two year old Victory seems a bit overpriced.
Adding the larger front wheel and fender will make a Cross Country look like the current Magnum model.
I agree with you that the Victory Cross Country (and Magnum) might be worthy as replacements for our Valkyries.

BTW
The 2015 Cross Country starts at $18,999 and the Magnum starts at $21,999.

Is a Cross Country with a front wheel mod. The engine guards (forged bars) are from a year or two prior. Perhaps it is a "Ness" edition - custom touches out of the box. The new Magnum comes with the larger front wheel as a stock out of the box bike.  sheets (2014 XCT).

I could have bought a really nice 14 Cross Country that was the salesman's demo. I never haggled on the price, as I got my new F6B first. It had about 8 k miles on it and he was starting off at 14k before any haggling. I don't know how much he might have moved on it , but it was a nice one.

Just went to the International Bike show in the Twin Cities and this beauty caught my eye. It has an 1800 v twin with 111HP. I could do this.

Moto Guzzi - California Touring. I gave it consideration, but the nearest dealer is three hundred miles away.

test rode one of these at Roger Penske's dealership in the Detroit area last summer. It's a beautiful bike but they told us it was around 80 hp. I was impressed with fit and finish and handling, but she didnt have the go fast in her like my 15 year old Valk. Maybe they've upped the hp for 2015.

Yes they are 111 cu inches not 111 HP.  One dyno chart has the 111 at just over 73 horsepower. It is the torque where these shine.http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/4/17183/Motorcycle-Article/Indian-Chief-Thunder-Stroke-111-Dyno-Chart.aspx

That's too bad, the rep at the show specifically said horsepower because he mentioned it had more than the screaming eagle HD.

Yeah that's me too. I could only do an Indian if I had to go with the V-twin. Maybe it's just a pride thing about Harleys – not going to buy one. Not to mention they cost too much! Cheesy
