Any interest in a ride to the Yalaha Bakery Saturday?

They have a great deli, build your own sandwich from a big board with all the available ingredients. Or, just gorge yourself on some of their "out of this world" pastries....or both. They often have music on weekends, don't know about Saturday. I thought I might wander over that way, get there around noon. Weather is supposed to be 69-70ish and mostly clear so should be good riding. Mileage isn't too bad actually, over 80 miles for those in the NPR and Clearwater area. About 60 from Lakeland and less than 50 from Ocala and Winter Park. For the Tampa bunch, it's about the same as riding to Neon Leons...maybe a tad more.

It's located at: 8210, County rd. 48, Yalaha, FL  352-324-3366,  www.yalahabakery.com

That's about 4 miles east of US 27, the CR48/US27 intersection is about 4.5 miles south of Leesburg.

Wow, this is underwhelming. It generated 48 readers and only one response. Sorry you can't make it Doug, haven't seen you and Angie is some time.  :cooldude:

Here's a thought; how about a lunch ride to JB Boondocks in Howie In The Hills instead? Then maybe a run to the Bakery afterward to fill the sweet tooth if needed. It has been suggested to make the Boondocks meeting around 1:00 so as to not have the lunch crowd to deal with. I'm all for it myself so give it some thought, it will be my plan in any case.  :cooldude:

+2  :cooldude:

Sherry is still giving me the evil eye for not bringing baked goods back from the last time at Yahala after the hide-a-way lunch.  We will be at JB at 1p

Hey Gil, if your going I will tag along as well. Maybe Billy wants to jump in? That Bakery was Awesome, I vote for eating there and bringing pastries home  :cooldude:

John,  I think Patti and I will do it.  We like the food at Boondocks better than Yalaha. But the desserts from there are great.  Hopefully hook up with some of the nearby people to ride up.
Jerry/Sherry are you guys leaving from Zhills?

I hate to miss this John and the weather looks text book perfect. I promised this day to my Father and he's excited.

John, the bakery is an excellent ride idea as we've heard so many good things but we can't make it. More Yankee relatives descending on us this weekend.  Poor things from Ohio trying to get out of the cold ... how could we refuse them?  Enjoy your ride!  And Jerry, enjoy your fav corn bites at Boondocks.

Nick,

I think the bakery would be our choice, but we could go to Boondocks for group chatting and then head to the bakery.  We need Billy to lead the way.

Penny,

So Todd can post, except when it is to bow out of a ride.   :uglystupid2:

Oh sure, Jerry is not good enough to lead the way anymore.  My feelers r hurt.   :2funny:  LOL.    Just a note that Roger and us'ins can meet up with the gang from the west.  Trying to get a response from Greg and Sandy - Dan and Ginne from the north.

Now Gil, Todd is free to post at will. It's like a partnership or corporation. I'm the social director and he's tech support. So if you guys are talking about rides, posting jokes or photos, or general friendly harassment of other members, then I'll comment. If it's about vapor lock, tires or the all-important petcocks, then he'll take over.  That way we cover all bases. And I won't talk out of turn (that's for TJ's benefit).   :cooldude:

Doug, I understand completely. My parents retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas....not exactly an easy commute. We only got to see each other about once a year, if that often. The last time I saw him alive was August, 1999 on our way back from a N. Mexico bike trip. He turned 93 the following November and passed away two days after Christmas. Spend all the time you can with your father, it means a lot to both of you.

Back then I was still flying a lot so we would often use a club plane and fly up for Thanksgiving. Then go south to Louisiana to visit my oldest daughter after which we'd head home....usually Sunday after T'giving. Great memories of taking him and mom up in the plane and flying around the Ozarks. It was strange....you could not get either of them lost up there. They knew every little valley and lake and how to get there by car.
