Any leads for a replacement rather than the $450 that Honda wants?

Those same discount alternators that are available for our Valkyries are made for 1800
wings too... who knows how good they are? I bet they work.

Do you happen to know the year of the wing by chance?

After reading mixed reviews of various aftermarket (cheap) alternator replacements, I opted to have my local guy make the old one like new, brushes, rotor, etc. Cost less than $100 and so far, so good. Just hope the Wing's alternator is easier to pull and replace than the Valk...I still cringe at that long, frustrating, job.

Thanks

I think that's the one he might buy. Also selling on eBay with good feedback.

pull the bad one out and take it to a motor shop locally,,,they will guarantee it and if it does fail they will be local to deal with and you keep your money in your community...or use one of the listed sponsors here..

I remember your posts about that. I don't remember how you got it in. Did you have help or were you able to finish the job yourself ?

Any automotive electrician can rebuild a Alternator to new condition, carry it in, carry it out,  They don't want anything to do with removing and installing.  Don't know about a wing, but a Valk is not that hard to remove and install. Hoser

I needed another eye to see what I was missing. A motorcycle mechanic, with 30 years experience, couldn't get it in either. We finally tried taking a hacksaw to the tiny bit of screw ends sticking out, and that let it back in. I have no idea why mine was such an ordeal, but I was glad that he had problems too. I would have really been pi$$ed if he had popped it back in right away.
