That's cool, no pun intended. Does that much cold show any / cause any cracking / damage in the plane itself? Or, is that the point of this type of testing?

Spent quite a bit of time at Pax River ?station here in Maryland
when they were doing testing on the Navy version of F35.
They have a carrier section set up on one landing strip
with wires and cats.
Also got to see some unmanned drones that they are going to
use off carriers, cool stuff (ha, ha,)

Yes, that's one of the points. They'll check every operational system, every door, every panel and every aspect of it including engine ops to see what works, what fails, what it takes for it not to fail. We do run engines to full mil including afterburner. Notice the running engines.....  B1-B.  F22.  Stealth Fighter.  Tire testing. We'll do it all. We can even fit a C5-A Galaxy inside.  |
