I've heard of prices at $11.9 k   It wouldn't surprise me if the 15s are the last year for them.

They had a new one still in the box at the dealer in Fletcher NC when we were at Inzane. I cant remember the price he was thinking he wanted but it was way up there. It was obvious he didnt want to sell it.

Seems there are similar stories about the sales of Original Valks.
Some bought new 2 or 3 years after production at deep discounts?
maybe some old timers can fill us in (if they remember).

Old timers?  Ouch...

I got my 99 IS for $14,500 with 0 miles on the clock....in 99. I lucked out, the dealer I got mine from was going out of business...so I got it before he crated it up to send it back. Sticker was $18,999.99. Two helmets, intercom thrown in also...

I might not be a good indicator. I know the Rune prices never really went down...EVER

I don't know about the lowest cost but here in the UK a dealer is selling an ex demo for £16995 which converts to $25890  Shocked

I could buy two in the USA for that price, ship 'em back here, sell one for $20,000 so I end up with a FREE bike and some spare change to go riding Grin

2 or 3 years after the Rune was made Honda sold the left overs for less than $15,000.
I was pissed that my the time I heard about the price down on the Rune it was too late.
I wanted to buy one just to look at.
I also bought my 1998 Valkyrie at great price in Oct 2000 and then my F6B last year. Even back in 1984 I got my left over 1982 CX500 at half price $1450.
I love deals.

I believe in this case you're talking about the "original" Valkyrie from the 1997-2003 series.  Biker Girl and I also saw this bike, as I recall a 1998 Black Standard, in the crate at the Fletcher dealership at Inzane during a tire replacement for her Stratoliner.   Wild to see, and the dealer was indeed seeking a serious price for it.  He had other "originals" of various models on the showroom floor for sale as well - along with some others including a striking Rune that weren't for sale.  All this certainly made the unexpected purchase of a tire for the wife's bike a more pleasurable experience...

I sense this thread is referring to the best price seen on the current Valkyrie model.

Just saw where the local dealer iis asking $12,998.00 for a new black valkyrie. Got me to wondering, whats the lowest price so far anybody has seen?

He's asking about NEW Valks folks!

They're all over ebay for $12,500 to $12,800 buy it now and you know they can do better if you show up in person with cash. Sample wording:

BRAND NEW - 0 MILES - MSRP $17,099 + $299 PREP = $17,398 = HUGE SAVINGS OF $4,552.00!

The new Valk is done after this year or next imo. Honda AGAIN not listening to what people want.

In PA the 2004/2005 Runes were $24K/$27K at first and a year or two later a place in Ohio was selling brand new $27K (Chrome Wheels and something else) for less than $17K.  I had two buddies buy one at below $17K.  They went up in value for used ones from what they paid in 2006/2007.  I bought my 2006 M109R in 2006 and my 2007 M109R LE in 2007 - I should have paid the extra $3K-4K for the Rune.

Maybe I'm way off track, but most new 1997-2003 std. Valks say went for 11 grand back then some say 15 years ago or so.  A new 2014 Valk some 15 years later is only going for now say 13K or so.  In my way of thinking,  ONLY say on average a 2 grand price increase in 15 years is not that bad really if you think of it in those terms.  In my eyes,  a std. old Valk is similar to a new Valk nowadays in terms of design and function since both are stripped down no saddlebags, etc.

However,  granted the new Valk has plastic mostly vs. all that MORE expensive chrome in our old Valks, but the engine and fuel injection and performance/handling is better in the new Valk to help compensate for some of the looks being taken away.

If you look at the insane pricing of say a 1984 Honda V65 Magna that are out there NOW in good shape going for 2500-3500 bucks some 30 years later is, to me,  crazy/insanely high.  Back in the late 1980's,  a near new 1984 Honda V65 Magna could be had for under 4 grand easily.  You tell me that bike, although a cult classic, is really worth over 2 grand today in reality of what it really is worth since bike is 30 years old???

I sold my 1984 Honda Magna back in 1997 for 1500 bucks after adding about 500 bucks in accessories (trunk, taller backrest, hwy. pegs, leather saddlebags) on it since 1988.   I paid 1500 for it in 1988 used.  Not too shabby, but still that same exact bike easily fetches 1500 bucks if still in good shape some 30 years later today even.

In my opinion,  our old Valks now worth say between 5-8 grand in value,  will NOT depreciate much more than they currently are say some 10-15 years from now.  Maybe at most say 2 grand less is all in value some 10-15 years from now if still kept in good shape.

I see this all the time in used ATV pricing.  I bought 2 used ATV's and kept both about 8 years kept in good shape.  ILast year, I even made 200 bucks in 8 years selling one of them and only lost 400 bucks in 8 years on the other in depreciation.  The bottom eventually falls out of the used ATV/cycle market for the most part and not much more in depreciation will happen.  I now have 2 newer, yet used, ATV's paid about 5 grand each,  am sure in 8 more years from now if kept in good shape, will still be worth 4500 no problems selling them.

I was just at the local Honda dealer last weekend picking up some parts. Knoxville Honda / Yamaha has ( 2 ) new Valkyries a black and a blue and he is still proud of them with a $17,999 price tag on both. The blue one has been there at least 8 months or longer. The only one I've seen on the road was last year at InZane .
