Dollar shave club. Does anyone here belong? Good bad indifferent? The reviews sound promising and the prices are VERY reasonable compared to what I pay for Gillette Fusion blades from wally wurld. BUT I'd like to check here cause I KNOW we don't pull punches with one another bout anything. And as always-T I A-for any and all help. RIDE SAFE.

Didn't the bald owner, Rick, of the show Pawn Stars promote a single bladed razor on a commercial for them? I think a single razor blade like in the olden days is the best still since most dual or triple blades get the hair stuck in between the blades way too easily and harder to clean. The one Rick from Pawn stars advertised for was a simple design going way back and was easy to take apart and clean within seconds. Then again, what do I know? My wife works for Rayovac/Remington and I get free electric razors and dirt cheap alkaline batteries at my will. I must admit though that even the best electric razor is still not as a good/clean up close shave as any razor blade will do. I'm just not that fussy when it comes to looking my best I guess?

Best shaves I've ever had came from my vintage restored Boker and Black Diamond razors I normally use vintage double edge single blade razors now.

Harry's is good too... $15 gets you started with a 'handle', 3 blades, and a small bottle of foam or gel. After that, 8 packs of blades are $15 ($1.88/blade) with free shipping. https://www.harrys.com/Good stuff Black Dog

What happens in shave club stays in shave club. That's what I was thinking. A shave club sounds kinky (not that there's anything wrong with that). The only time I let some barber (in Turkey) use a straight razor on me, it scared the hell out of me. I think he knew, 'cause I held my breath for the whole shave and was turning blue.

I have 2 of them, not plastic. Made with heavy stainless steel, and gives a great shave. You can get them at Walmart, just look in the aisle marked as seen on TV. I bought mine there.

I grew a beard when I was 26 and haven't looked back. My children have never seen me without whiskers. A few years ago the significant other convinced me to try a goatee. Way too much work to keep it clean and presentable (so it never is) and the disposable razors to keep it trimmed up always seem to end up in the shower for her use before I wear them out. Might be time to go back to the full beard since all the hair is 50 Shades of Gray now.

For those of you that have NOT met me I keep the cranium shaved in the summer. I go thru a LOT of blades. My neck gets trimmed once or twice a week as I keep a full beard year round. I am looking into lower price alternatives besides wally wurld and walgreens and dollar general et al. You haven't lived til you have helped your lady shave-use your imagination! Looking into this I tripped across some of those already linked and I THANK you. Just cursed tired and pissed off paying exorbitant amounts of money for blades! THOUGHT Amazon or flea bay could save me some money but the shave clubs were linked at the bottom of the pages of E or A. Read the reviews on the various ones I visited but KNEW I'd get good info here. Surprised and happy we didn't go as far off track as I thought we might-yet! RIDE SAFE.

I normally (6 days / week) use an electric Norelco. Use some electric preshave and it's pretty good. Sundays (or sometimes saturdays) , I get out the multibladed (currently 3 bladed schick) , along with Edge gel. There is no comparison on how close this gets - just too much trouble getting ready for work. Hint - to make your blades last longer - DRY them when done. I use a hair dryer on high. When they're dried, they don't rust. I'm going on 6-9 months on the same blades, and they still shave as smooth as when I first put them on the handle. I have never grown a beard, and now, with my own "50 shades of grey" in the beard - I don't need to look any older than I am . The rest of the hairs on my head are enough evidence of that . And I don't get this shaving of body hair.... after all, I'm NOT a gorilla.

Hmm, haven't shaved since Christmas or maybe it was New Year's, don't remember. Won't keep it but, I've shaved since I was 12 (I think), I'm tired of the routine. It's almost Spring so, it'll come off soon.

I was kinda hoping for a secretary thread, but....
I went back to the safety razor after I went to buy Fusion blade heads and realized I might have to get a loan. I was fine with the Trac 2 and Atra and they worked well. I think the 5 blades things are a hook. They dont shave any better, in fact I found that I had to go over it multiple times.
The safety razor works better for a lot less per blade. Though I think I am going to be replacing them more often, at 5 bucks for 10, it isnt that big of a deal. Its a little harder on the skin, but it also gives a better shave. It also takes a little longer to do right.

Yes, I belong to Dollar Shave Club. Saving a ton on money NOT buying Fusion blades anymore. I had the three blade for quite awhile, worked fine on my face, not so good on my head. I was still using the Fusion on my head up until a couple of months ago. I just couldn't get a close enough (for me) shave on my head with the three blade. I went back to my account, upped to the four blade for 8 bucks a month and am now VERY happy with it. The send a new heavier, nicer handle, and the four blades work as well as my Fusion blades ever did. I'll never go back. Buying gas for the Valk with the money I save. What's not to like?

Well due to this discussion and that fact I can't seem to find the razor I kept of my dad's when he passed on ..... this showed up in the mail yesterday courtesy of another member involved in this discussion. Thank you very much!! For the first time in my shaving days, I gave this style of razor a go this morning and didn't drip a drop of blood in doing so! Didn't take very much longer to shave and with a bit of practice, will most likely be just as fast. I used the brush and shaving soap and as of right now, I can tell I could have done a little better job around my mouth as I can feel a bit of stubble. Probably a bit too cautious first time around. Also noticed that when I rinsed it out under hot water, the head retains the heat to a large degree (no pun intended) so I got a surprise with the next stroke ! Curious to see how long a blade lasts. Anyone know if the blade is to be flipped once dull or is that it, it's finished? ???

Cleaning and drying the blades will make them last longer but not necessary as cheap as they are. Use both sides of the double edge blades while shaving lets you rinse it less. Also to get a better and closer shave learn the techniques of with the grain, against the grain and across the grain.

Just joined Dollar Club a couple months ago. Love the razor handle & I got the 4 blade razor. I shave my head & face about every 3 days. So far so good. I really like the feel of the handle as it is weighty and feels substantial in my hand. $6 a month + free delivery & quality product? Yeah...I'll take that.

Look what I found! My dad's old razors and no, I don't know why he had 22 shells in there! Both are single blade single edge razors. The one in the box is really cool in how the blade loads. Needs a dang good cleaning in some Brasso or something.

I got my "Safety razor", double bladed axe, at a yard sale for $1.00. She couldnt believe anyone would want to use something like that. I had been looking for one for about 6 months. Kinda a target of opportunity type of thing. I'm funny that way. $.99 cent only stores have 5 blades for .99. Wife has the dollar shave club and likes it alot.
