Last year I had a 95 Harley Road King with 16in ape hangers and a set of straight pipes.  I needed a couple of thousand dollars  and sold it for $5700 with 48,000 miles.  2 hours later I bought a 97 Valkyrie custom for $3600 with 36,000 miles off of craigs list.  This year I have already mounted a set of 94 Dyna Wide Glide bars and a sissy bar from a 750 chopper.  I'm going to sell some things in my garage to buy some cobra pipes.  It also needs new tires.  Got a shinko for the front ($85) today and ordered a ohtsu FP6000 A/S for the rear ($56.97).  I mount myself and use dyna beads.  I've never darksided before but for that price I figured Why not try it.  The bad thing is I'm having shoulder surgery in a few weeks and will have to trade bikes with my dad.  (He's got a fully loaded Can am.)  I know I'll miss how my fat lady holds me.  I hope she doesn't get too jealous.

Welcome.

You are not new at this, so it will not take you long to figure out what you have.

Welcome , I had a total shoulder replacement on January 14. If I had known it was so easy , I would have done it five years ago.
The Valks are a love affair.

Welcome.  I am another one of the new guys.  Had Valk since 2002 but never really been on the boards.  Found it looking for info on problems and wow, what a wealth of info.

Adding to what T-Bird said and shifting gears, it will take you a while to get used to only having 5 gears,,the only thing i think you will miss is 6th gear..but like i said, you will get used to it,,,,eventually,,,LOL

I broke my ribs in 10 places, my collar bone on both sides and collapsed a lung and got fluid in the other in a get off in early September. Three trips to the hospital of various lengths and a month of physical therapy and loss of my Valkyrie. Plus I'm 68 years old. Rode my replacement Goldwing 100 miles to lunch today.  Shocked  You're going to be alright. Chin up.  Hoser  cooldude

Thanx for all the friendly welcomes.  I came home from work today and spent about 3 hours mounting the front tire from start to finish.  My new Shinko tour master went on with ease and the bead set under max pressure.  I was happy.  The old one was a dunflop E3.  I forgot how hard it is to iron bar those.  I'm assuming the CT won't be much different.  I was going to build a jack adapter so it was easier to do the rear tire, but my parents called and said to ebay one and it'll be my Bday present.  That's actually in May.  Don't have any pictures yet but after I get caught up before the surgery and I go through photostash for dummys I'll post some.
