I'm going to have to break down & begin wearing a hearing aid. I tried one a couple of years ago, but took it back although it worked well & I probably needed it at the time. I just didn't like the inconvenience & there is so many things I'd rather spend $6,000.00 on.

The one I tried was state of the art zz neat. It linked to your smart phone via bluetooth & allowed setting tone, volume, on, off, stop & rewind of music & anything else relevant that you could imagine. You could play music in a room full of people without anyone knowing, listen to FM radio. Of course, you could answer, talk, & place phonecalls, & it even had GPS for when you mislaid it or wanted to be reminded of something when you arrived at a particular geographic location, ie, " get milk" when you arrive at the supermarket.

I would have kept it for the convenience if it hadn't cost so much.

Im going to get another one as described above. Can anyone tell me the pros & cons of using it while riding, especially as to the noise overwhelming the function of the hearing aid.

Also, can I use it with the Cardo system?

I can see where it has great possibilities for riding.

Thanks,

Dan

Are you a Military Veteran? Reason I ask the V A might purchase them for you. My time around Military aircraft and on the flight deck started my hearing loss and the V A bought my hearing aids. And the audio Doctor I had said if he was still in private practice my hearing aids were in that same-6 G-ball park. RIDE SAFE.

I just got mine from the VA. I'm now hearing things I could not hear before, which is everything above 8khz or so. They do take some getting used to. They told me my brain had to get used to hearing again. I asked if they had something that would make it think again, lol.

Mom had two high priced form fitted hearing aids from my dad, and her neighbor,  and neither fit her of course.  Dads does fit me, so I will hold onto that for possible future use.  Anyhow, she needed something and I was looking for something inexpensive so she could hear the TV or conversations better.  And what I found surprised me...... A hearing aid very similar to the one for thousands, but instead of custom fitted...it had optional rubber tips like ear buds.  It was only 9.99 free shipping, on ebay. I got it, and was very impressed that it does work, doesn't squeal and  does have adjustable volume.  But, just like dad and her neighbor....they don't like to wear em for some reason.....regardless of how much they cost.

Here is that I got her, and it does work quite well.....  For 9.99 shipped.

Tell the audiologist what you will be doing when riding....loud pipes, radio etc. I do have problems with mine on my loud v-twin with the radio going.  Audiologist has set my hearing aids with a mode that may help. I felt the volume limit that kicks in to avoid damage to my ears was stopping me from fully hearing my radio. She said no and tweeked the hearing aids. The hearing aids can tune out fans etc, I really notice the difference in the noise reduction when I am in the car with the defroster going. I have been considering the Resound hearing aids you are talking about that you can adjust with an Iphone or Ipod but the money is more that I can spend when I have a pair that works fine. Remember the more fancy things you get the more batteries you will go through.

I'm using new Costco Kirkland aids and they are working just fine.  Not fancy but also cheap compared to some. Comes with a small remote for adjusting both aids.  The more fancy, the more money, and the faster they go through batteries.

I'm not about to pay 6 grand for aids.

Can't wear mine and ride. They rattle with the wind so I don't bother anymore. Just one, hmm. My audiologist said she never issues just one but they are all different is suppose. She said if one ear is bad they both are and my test proved it. I thought my right ear had taken a hit from all the years of playing in rock bands but it was both. Not just from being next to a screaming lead guitar player. I blamed it on him mostly, but my drummer caught it to. All the years around sirens and heavy equipment didn't help either.
$6,000 for just one....better serve you lunch and do the dishes for that much. Good ol micro techonology is pricey.

I've never had a pair I could wear in a full face helmet.  And my half helmet I can barely wear one of the two.  But I almost never do.  Even with my profound hearing loss, I can still hear sirens.  And with earphones inside the helmet, I can hear music.  Maybe not as loud as I like, but that's probably a good thing.

That's better..mine were $5,000 and it was all outa pocket. I couldn't wear a full face helmet at all cause they would squeal if enclosed. thats how I ck the battery is just to cup the hearing aid. Battery is good they will squeal. Wear em, hearing the birds in the morning alone is worth it!

Mine were $2300.00 for both.  I don't wear them while riding.  I use ear plugs and can still hear what I need to.The remote for the aids is also  nice.  It even tells the condition of the batteries.  For me, Costco is the place to go.
A complete hearing test including in the ear evaluation of the new aids using ultra small mikes, and the techs work on a straight salary and don't get paid a commission which brings down the cost and gets rid of the "gee, you need a more expensive aid" BS.

The hearing aid industry is a rip off ,IMO, and Costco is changing that, also IMO.

Nope, don't work for Costco, blah, blah, Smiley

BEND OVER !  $6,000 for this ?  You are getting f`ed. You can not build 6 grand into a hearing aid. Higher cost does not mean "BETTER"   Evil

I have Phonak and can't/don't wear it when riding.  Too much wind if not wearing a helmet and has a chance of falling out when removing a helmet.  I keep it in my pocket until I get where I am going.  If women are around, I sometimes leave it out.  Just sayin'.
