If you happen to see any closeouts now that we're between seasons, on warm blaze hunting jackets & bibs & hats - please advise.  I've got some great deals on closeout biker gear thanks to tips from the club here. Like great gear at 20%. This coming winter I will be helping a lifetime friend hunt deer in KS.  He had a bad stroke and needs help (he's my biker buddy I mentioned before - couldn't talk him out of his Harley lust - he bought a Dyna and barely broke it in before the stroke.)  I haven't hunted for a long time so I need to gear up on clothes.  We used to archery deer hunt in the big woods N WI decades ago. Frankly I'm geared up otherwise if I were to choose to hunt, but there are issues on who has permission to hunt the private land he hunts, so all I can really do is help.  That's fine with me, actually pulling the trigger to me is trivial compared to the rest of the experience. Not to mention the cost - non-resident licenses total $472 just to pull the trigger. I will be helping put him on stand, hauling his gear, field dressing the deer and hauling them (he's getting several permits) to his friend's farm where they have a big deer processing operation set up. Don't plan to hunt myself, just assist him, but need orange gear for that.

Mark you might check

Much better prices than other retailers like Cabelas or Bass Pro.  Cool thing you're doing for your buddy, BTW.

Always start with Cabela's Bargain Cave(and their regular site too).  (Bass Pro, Amazon?)

Though I never quite understand buying blaze orange clothes; how about good warm/waterproof clothes, and cheap blaze orange vests, hats, etc.  That way the good warm clothes can be worn other places without being....blaze orange.  JMHO

cooldude  Whenever I need to dress up as a pumpkin, I use light weight, almost throwaway jacket and pants over my camo gear since I am primarily an archery and turkey hunter. Safety orange hats are cheap if you don't mind doing the NASCAR thing with logos.

cooldude  I do the same thing. Wear a cheap fleece blaze orange jacket to and from the stand. Take it off and only wear a orange hat in the stand. Been doing this for several years.

That won't work in Kansas, you have to wear the orange all the time while hunting.

since you don't need permanent blaze orange clothing not wanting to spend much on heavy duty blaze orange clothing,  get something like this from Gander Mountain:  http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=403070#pr-review-engine-403070

A safety vest like this covering most of your top is all that is probably legally needed in KS or in my case WI.  Just don't wear white sleeves underneath please for fear of getting shot thinking it is a deer's flash of a tail.

Cost is ONLY 10 bucks and is 3X which should fit nicely over your regular warm clothing in darker colors.  You can always buy a blaze orange cap for under 10 bucks pretty much anywhere.  Plus,  if KS is like WI, you don't need blaze orange pants/bottoms, ONLY the top part blaze orange and this vest should do the trick.

Happy hunting and kill all those forest rodents please.

Thx guys.  Still looking for actual warm blaze gear sales - not interested in the cheap color covers that can snag on everything I get near while not being burr repellent - I have plenty of warm outdoor gear already but not blaze.  I have lots of time to buy closeout sales stuff now off season.  Looking at a reversable camo/blaze jacket and an orange bib pants sale now, both around $50, weatherproof and burr resistant but not in a hurry and I just know if I take my time I'll find the perfect gear - not compromise stuff.  I've seen hunting jackets listed for $4-700 and that's just nuts.  You know they were all made in China and cost the retailers a tiny fraction of that.  Under $100 seems reasonable to me for quality closeout prices.
