Harrison Ford experienced an engine failure shortly after take off today and landed on a golf course in California. Haven't heard anything else.

Only three? A light day in the metro I guess, or it's too cold to go out and use humans for target practice. I think they should make some of those ghettos a "no go" zone, nobody gets out or in. Pretty soon they'll thin themselves out and have nobody to fight with. Then go back in and raze the 'hood.

I saw the pictures of his plane this morning. Not what I would call a landing. He destroyed the antique, open cockpit, trainer he was flying. Not much information on his medical condition.
Update, Harrison is in moderate to fair condition. Engine failure forced an emergency landing on the golf course, but he hit a tree.

Looks and sounds like he handled a very critical situation very well. Engine failure on takeoff doesn't leave a pilot very many options.
Especially if you're taking off on "7" from Orlando Executive. There's a lake off the end of the runway and it wouldn't do any good to turn left or right....it's all commercially developed. So you have an interesting choice to make; convert to an amphibian on the fly or take out a few stores. If you have enough altitude below you, a slight left will put you on a multi-lane highway. That lake is really quite small, but it looks HUGE from about 15' according to one guy that got wet.  |

I guess if you think you will need quick medical attention and there is no large hospital parking lot to land in the next best think would be a golf course. Of course, that is if you are not just freakin out cuzz the engine in your small plane just quit. all jokes aside he really did pick the best available spot. just lucky about the doctors. That is an experience I think I could live without. Glad he is ok.
