I went online and got a printout of all my contributions going back to 1951. Problem is, if there is any extra $300 earning credit given it doesn't show, they only list a lump figure for the years. I tested my patience twice by calling and being put on hold, held for 20 minutes both times and gave up. Guess I'll have to have them call me back as was offered, or go downtown in person and try to talk to someone. Didn't really want to do that but might be my best bet. I don't recall the subject of my military service coming up when I first applied twelve years ago. So, if I've been shortchanged the last dozen years, I wonder if I can get it as backpay for those 12 years. Wouldn't that be a hoot, roughly $14k+ would be nice. Frankly, it's too good to be true but I'd like that old phrase to not apply just once in my life.   cooldude

John,

As a retired GI who just applied for SS last month, I was told that even though it is not reflected, it is "in there"....like Ragu I guess.  If I get my first SS check next week. it will be something I NEVER thought I would EVER see.

When I went to my S S office to check on this it was explained to me-IF I had not made decent money-according to her I maxed S S payments 1968 to 1979 I believe-I could have gotten extra had I been at the lowest level of income. But being as I earned what I did earn I get what I get. Nudder words-no mo money from dee gubmint!

You would think since everyone is calling it a entitlement that everyone would get it regardless of how much they put in. Not the military credit just ss.  Roll Eyes

I went to ss office.  Was told my records indicated that the ss during my time in, '70-'73, was not included in my ss checks.  He said sometimes people slip through and this happens

He went to get his girl to print out my paperwork and get my monthly check corrected, and get the back pay.  Yea, I'll get to go out to eat at a nice place.

He came back with pages columns and paragraphs all marked up with yellow lines.  He said the initial records he had looked at were not correct, and I was getting all that I was going to get.  He went over all of the yellow marks explaining how they determined my monthly checks and what had been added for my time in, including '74.  I had given him a copy of my DD214, and asked him to look at my discharge date ('73).  He said, "Sometimes our records are not entered correctly, and they would correct my records."

WTF.  Now, I will have research, try to decipher these pages, get my records corrected.  Yea, that's going to happen.
