Would rather have a 12 year old bike with 30k on it. I found an 01 interstate 5 miles from my house a couple years ago with 126 miles on it. He wanted 12 k for it and I offered him 8k. His wife told me it was a collectors bike and I would never see another one anywhere around here. I said oh yeah? What about that other one in your drive way I rode here? Shut her up real quick.

Anybody can ask any amount for their belongings, more than likely won't get it though unless find someone who is a sucker or wants it REALLY REALLY bad enough, but those people are few and far between.
Under 1000 miles for a 11+ year old bike, why even bother buying it then in the first place? To sit and admire it in the garage is all? And here I thought my Valk at 30K miles was low mileage and really not driven much, which is true, but not to this extreme.
Some would say a Valk I/S being a 2001 with say 30K miles fairly OEM should be worth 6500-7K tops, but I wouldn't let it go for under 7.5K. Doesn't mean I will ever get that in price, but not looking to sell anytime soon either. Nothing on the market for under 8K I would want to replace it with so might as well keep it.

Seriously, if you feel your bike is worth 11-12 grand with all the do-dads you added as well, more power to you. You made it to your likings and some things cannot put a price on I guess? I would have taken that offer, but to each their own.

I would pass, had one like it here last month. Had to rebuild the carbs and other stuff, outside looked new, inside carbs were green with corrosion.

I bought a 1998 Tourer with 2,800 miles on it.
That was about 5 years ago.
Had 10,000 on it when I let it go.
Carbs were perfect.. the guy said he put Lucas in it regularly.
Still had the hard as hell stock dunlops on it. Almost laid it down going to get new tires.
They were hard as all get out,,oh and the Armour All on the side of the old tires
did not help matters.

I would have taken that offer, but to each their own. If you're after money, you would be getting a deal. If you intended to build another Valkyrie, you'd be getting screwed. It is hard and expensive to turn an OEM Valkyrie into a personalized Valkyrie. Personalized Valkyries often aren't just OEM Valkyries with some bolted on chrome parts, but lots of extra (hopefully well done) wiring for heated clothes and loud horns and extra lights. And forget about even getting some of the Chrome parts. And if you have a nice fairing, forget about that being something you just bolted on after lunch. Just the right seat and handlebars that are comfortable all day? My Valkyrie's not worth much. But I wouldn't take even a high price for it, unless I was getting out of Valkyries... -Mike

Mike is right on. About $4000 of accessories have been added to my Tourer, many of which are no longer available. I won't even mention the hundreds of hours of work I've personally put into it (oops I guess I just did that). That 2003 appears to be a Deluxe. If I owned it, those wheels would be on my Tourer and I would take the less is more approach for the rest of the bike and bob it. We have seen some outstanding examples of bobbed Valkyries here.

Kinda sounds like the Valk a teacher here bought new , I think he said in Dothan and rode it back home to Panama city and parked it in the garage. it only had about 500 miles on it. I had just finished rebuilding the carbs and de-smogging my 03 Standard and was talking to him about what the problem was on his. He told me that the carbs needed fixing and that the dealer said it would be 900 to rebuild the carbs and change all the fluids. He said no.. He retired from the school after he found out he had some type of cancer.

Same here Tundra. My two interstates will most probably outlive me, especially the way I take care of them and share the miles between them. I know I don't need two but one gets lonely without the other.

I stopped at a Honda dealer in Ashviile at last years Inzane. He had a brand new 03 Valk in the crate with the top off so you could look in and see it. I asked the salesman if it was for sale, he said they were taking bids, but the owner of the dealership wanted over 20k for it. This one looks alot better than the one in the crate, but they wil both need tires and valve stems for starters. HT
