That is a sad day... I wish there was some way for you and RJ to carry oxygen on the bike... maybe it is more than that... anywho... I'm glad I got to ride with you a few times... -Mike

Ride anyway , I would. If I was older what the hay? Keep insurance and tags , and the worst case is they fine you . Don't pay the fine and get 2 days in jail and meet some interesting people .
NO BRAINER.

At one time I thought that it was easy to keep riding in older age. I have found out differently. The young guys, full of pi** and vinegar want us to believe it. Not true. Lots of reasons why not. It take a lot more out of me to ride than to drive. I like to stay alive so I'm especially cautious riding, maybe too much, but I still ride just not as much. Getting your face in the wind makes up for a lot of the aggravations tho!

Sorry to hear this buddy. Usually the MC endorsement is only a few bucks more than the car license. Even when I can no longer ride at all, I intend to keep my endorsement, just so I can upset my doctors. And you never know when you might get a chance to ride someone else's bike or trike. Or hobble on down to the dealer at 95 and ask them for a test ride. (not laughing at you, but with you, I'm not a spring chicken myself)

I use a portable unit similar to those. It's not needed 100% of the time, but at altitude above 3-4K it is used. Mine is a pulse delivery, really wish I has continuous flow. It sits in my cooler on the luggage rack. Plug it into my bike and just turn off the driving lights when in use for power management. I run the hose in my jacket so it is not obvious. As stated they are pricey. Sorry you had to give up the riding, with luck I will be able to know when it is my turn to park the bike and will have the strength to go through with the decision. Gil

A trike is the way to get some wind at an extended age.

I did not ride for many years before buying the Valkyrie. However, all that time, I retained the motorcycle endorsement on the drivers license. In 2005, the bug overcame the reasons not to ride again. I started searching out what I wanted to ride, found the Valkyrie and this group and found my Tourer late in 2007. Always thought myself a biker because it said so on my license.
The time will come to give it up for all of us. Hopefully it's a decision that's not the result of injury.

Or hobble on down to the dealer at 95 and ask them for a test ride. I Like that, What do you say that when we are both old and using walkers that we go down to the local Harley dealer and ask to test drive some bikes.

Based on many factors, esp including no old men in my family trees (tons of old ladies though), I don't really expect to be around all that long. But if I beat the odds, lets do it.

I KNOW one of these days I won't be able to get the Phatt Ghurl offin the side stand. I've heard time and tide wait for no man or woman. I have noticed something different since I turned 70-that cursed floor is further away then it used ta was! Spirited-6 I hope I can be gracious when it's time fer me to quit. RIDE SAFE.

I can understand your choice. I think it comes to all of us at some point.
Cancer keeps knocking at my door.
The thought of that day coming sooner rather than later keeps playing through my mind.

Has to be a bit tough to accept. Like you, I've been on bikes over 60 yrs. and still have the endorsement on my current license. My current one expires on my birthday in 2022, at which time I'll be 84. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it....if I'm still here. Chances are good I'll trike the bike long before that day arrives.
