Oil Leak !

I was checking my bike out for a ride yesterday and found oil on  top of the engine block. None on the floor. A closer look showed  oil on the bottom of the carburetors, more so on the right side.
I pulled the tank and air-box and there was no oil found on those. Just can't figure out where oil would be coming from and dripping off the bottom of the carburetors.
Any ideas? Please help !

Hey Candeeman,

Chance are...that is not oil you are seeing but a gassy residue from your intake runner.  You need to change out your intake o-rings, located between the intake and head.  Fairly easy to do and you don't have to remove the carbs.  Just remove all bolts on one side at the head, loosen the clamp at the carb, then wiggle the intake out.  I use a little bit of grease to hold the o-ring in place during re-installation.

tnx for your response Joe. It was just puzzling that there was none of this oil on the head or coming from the area of the o-rings. I just see it on the block and coming from the bottom of the carbs.
I will purchase the o-rings and replace them before I do anything else. Tnx again.

At every oil change I drain the "drool tube"   It is located under the motorcycle on the right side behind the foot peg.   The crankcase breather tube runs back into the air box and leaves a small amount of oily residue.  If this is not drained the box will have a small amount of oil laying in the bottom and could leak out through the rubber intake tubes to the carbs and show up by running down the carbs

oily residue leaking from bottom of carbs and onto the head is most likely fuel from leaking orings on the fuel lines between the carbs.

Warren, I checked the air-box and the crankcase breather and they have no evidence of oil so I'm leaning to o-rings next.
