I have been looking for a smaller 9mm. What do you think of the Sig Sauer P938. It is a little pricey compared to others but I like the size and feel of this gun. Has anyone had bad experiences with one. I do want to stay with a 9mm.

I had a P938 ... loved it. I was finally talked out of it by a friend that loved it even more. I'm basically a 1911 guy so I have not been in a rush to replace it. If you get the 938, I'm gonna recommend this holster: http://www.giholsters.com/silent-thunder-solo/.

Better Choice and dead solid reliable,,
Glock 19,,Generation 4, 9mm.
2nd choice,,,Taurus, PT-111 Pro. Lifetime warranty on Taurus.
PT-111 was developed as a back up weapon for Police. Compact, rugged, reliable, 1,000 rounds
through mine, NO issues at all.
Both in 9mm.
Sig is good,,these are better, and more compact for carry.
My opinion,,just like arse holes,, we all have one.

I love handguns, especially 1911s. My favorite is a Wilson Combat, Bill Wilson Carry model. Very pricey, but very accurate and reliable. I also like CZs and HKs. I recently got an HK P2000sk, 9mm. Very light, accurate and totally reliable. You do not know you have it on when wearing it. Not quite as small as the baby Glock, which I have had in the past, but a lot more fun to shoot. It has become my favorite carry gun, so check it out. Since the prices for HKs have come down, there is not much price difference in it and a Glock. I have had several Glocks, still have one, but I much prefer the HKs.

This combination can be found for, pistol $355.00 and the holster for $28.00. Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD™ 9mm MA Compliant. 180051 BLACKHAWK Serpa CQC Holster fits M&P Shield I like to know if a weapon can perform dirty. This one has run 10 boxes and has not been cleaned. Once the same cost of the pistol in ammo has been fired, the weapon will have earned its place to stay and get cleaned. So far the MP has been fed aluminum, brass, and steel with no issues. If you have large hands the eight round clips will probably feel best. It will probably take about 200 rounds for pistol and clip to loosen up. It is very hard to get 8 in the clip the first few times. I consider this an economical and reliable combination so far.

Sig has had a wonderful reputation for many years. And I still think their pistols are mostly top notch. But over the last few years, there has been an increasing number of complaints about breakage/stoppage/malfunction and then a lot more complaints about slow, unresponsive warranty/repair/service. This has happened as they have expanded their lines (many more new models), and production (numbers), and may be just a function of more guns. And it may be problems with particular models, but I don't know that for sure. Finally, just like cars/trucks, one is often wise to refrain from buying first year models until there is enough experience out there to read about, and the mfr has time to address new chronic issues. I do not know when the 939 came out.
By contrast, Ruger (and others) have sterling silver reputations for warranty/service/repair. And their new SR9c has glowing reports. (but a double stack mag)
I have an old German P220 .45 that has been perfectly reliable forever, but have otherwise no personal experience with Sig in recent history, and am only reporting what I have been reading on gun boards. If buying a new, expensive firearm, I tend to be as interested in the company's reputation for warranty/service/repair as in the reputation of the firearm itself.
One other thing that may be the tail wagging the dog, but magazines for this P220 are more expensive than any other mag in my gun safe, and this tends to piss me off. On the other hand, carry guns only probably need 2-3 mags, because no one carries a dozen mags on them, and if the crap hits the fan at home, you never go for your mini carry gun you go for full size good sight pistols (and rifles). But looking at extra mag cost is always relevant.
As to the 938 in particular, the web is your friend. Whenever considering a new/used purchase, I punch up a make and model Google search (with and without the word reviews), and proceed to spend hours reading window after window of what people have to say about them. I will also Google Sig 938 images (pictures), and then selectively hit the websites tied to those pictures, where I always find articles I did not find thru a web search. While doing so, pay attention to comments about warranty/service/repair. There are also, no doubt SIG specific forums, and I like to go there too.... they tend to be loyalists, but they can also be very critical, and will have more Sig-specific knowledge too.
What this long search and reading time will get you is this: I may tend to disregard any single complaint, not parroted by anyone else. But if there is one or (more issues) with a particular firearm that is reported by several or a number of people, then you have a problem that your pistol may likely have. But it may turn out to be a problem that is easily addressed with a $20 part, so you buy the gun and the part and put it in right away.
9mm happens to be my choice for small (but not tiny) conceal carry pistols. And for myself, I am only interested in single stack, thin guns, because it is the butt and gun thickness (not the bbl) that are the hardest parts to conceal. And I like a bbl of 3.5" and not shorter, because the bbl conceals easiest of all, and I get a better sight radius, and better velocity, and maybe more reliability. My 9mm carry of choice is the Kahr P9. The 9mm with good defensive ammo will do the job, and you will get one or two more rounds than .40 or .45, less recoil (but they still give a great big muzzle flash), and quicker follow up shots. It is a compromise.
You did not say if this Sig 938 was intended for carry. I do really like the 1911 style single action auto design and trigger pull over striker fired double action only's.

I really love my Springfield XDs 9. It is a very solid feeling piece and seems well made.
I had a Ruger LC9s pro but I sold it.....smaller but too much kick for my taste. It was the perfect size for CCW though.

Just bought a Ruger SR9C yesterday ($399.99) and used it for the first time today. Didn't notice any kick and I can't believe how well it shot or I shot it. Nice size, comes with a 10 round and 17 round clip. With the 10 round clip I get 3 full fingers of my big hands on it and with the 17 Round clip full hand on the gun. I have been researching this gun for a year decided to pull the trigger and buy it when the price went from $369. to $399.. Also found a good place for ammo ammoman.com 1000 rounds of 9mm Blazer Brass 115 gr. $235. and free shipping. I recommend this Ruger SR9C.

+1, Love my SR9c. Also like my little Elsie Pea (LCP) but the little bugger kicks like hell and is LOUD. The LCP stops being fun after about 50 rounds.

Thanks for all of the replies. I currently have a Taurus 24/7 Compact Pro 9mm which I really like. Even though it is fairly small, the Kahr CM9 is noticeably smaller and easier to carry. I really like the feel of the Sig P938 and was wondering if anyone has had negative experiences with it. Thanks again.

I like a single action trigger and a big fan of the 1911 style that is the main reason I went with the 938. It is pricey but the quality is tops, reliability has been 100% with everything I have fed it so far, it is very small and it is very accurate for such a small weapon.
