Hard Saddle Bags

I would like to add hard saddle bags to my 2003 Valkyrie.  By looking through the forum it looks like the best choices for the money are to look for OEM or second choice is to purchase Tsukayu strong or jumbo strong bags.

All are good choices IMO. You might also want to consider Mustangs, probably built by Tsukayu.

Sometimes you can find Champion Patriots for a good price... look pretty much
just like OEM bags, but made from high quality fiberglass... there's a set on ebay
right now for $650, buy it now... looks like just the bags...

Tsukayu Jumbo strongs on Valk,, outrageous amount of storage and good quality. I put additional bracing front and rear and side rails for tip overs,, really happy with them.

I just received my jumbo bags.  Next I will send them to the body shop for painting.  When I go to Arizona this winter I will start the installation process.  The ones I ordered do not have holes so will need to figure out the location to mount them.

Got my Jumbo Strong Bags about a month ago.. love  em.... I did order the brace for the bottom though!! they make a huge difference! my valk took the 35 cm ones

Lots of guys would recommend you get them fully mounted, THEN paint them.

I would certainly be one of those guys,,, it was a process to get mine mounted where I wanted them and they would have been beaten and scratched up if they had been painted first. Because of the way they mount, you may want to consider some extra bracing and protection for tip overs. I took the time to cut some pieces from aluminum to clad the back inside and out to keep it from breaking out as easily when the bike is dumped. The bags are mounted through the back with four bolts only, and while the fiberglass is pretty heavy, it will crack and break.  I purchased mine from eBay off a wrecked Boulevard and got to see first hand what can happen to them when only the supplied mounting hardware is used, luckily they were made good enough that they were repairable with a minimum of effort.
After I had the bags where I wanted them, I started with just two holes (one previously drilled from the original mounting) then used a cardboard template to get everything in line. After I had the height correct, I fastened one each, front and read rear mount, then worked the bags back and forth to get the final position I wanted and marked the two other holes. I am happy with the final product and the bags are super for form and function. If I had a complaint, it would be the cutout that is molded into the bags for shock clearance,, it does not fit our bikes, but is acceptable to me.
