that the new Valkyrie lists for $18K but lots of them are selling for around $12K? Are sales not doing well?

As is usually the case with Honda, they over priced a bike they over produced, due to over estimated sales, and because it has become overwhelming to sell, they have to lower the prices to clear the backlog they have. They did it with the VTX, Rune and some others.

I don't think they are selling. My dealer has the same one from the spring of last year. Offered me a killer deal of $400 above cost.
When I did the Honda ride event last year, no one wanted to test the new Valkyrie. So, I decided to try it. I did want to try the CTX1300 but it was fully booked. I was not really impressed. It needed a windshield, new seat and backrest. The seat is awful. And the way you sit on it, you definitely need a backrest. The power of the 1800 almost got away from me.
I really think that the CTX will be my new bike next year.

Why buy a detuned ST1300?

My son has a couple of VTX 1800's in my garage. I think I would just as soon have one of those. You can pick them up for around $5K with low miles.

Why buy a detuned ST1300? I agree. I love the looks of the CTX but they've detuned that rocking V 4 down to near sportster levels. WTH is wrong with honda?

Cheapest new Valkyrie here in the UK is £17k, around $25,200. I've just found a 2000 Interstate on Ebay UK, they're asking £7850, around $11600. The good news is my Valk is worth around the $10,000 mark. Not that I'd sell it of course.
