Id like to give a huge shout out and thanks to Bob Smith, aka the Attic Rat, for his help and expertise with my dads motorcycle. After buying and riding my own Interstate for 2 years, my dad decided to buy one himself so we could ride together. Ever since he bought his, he has had nothing but problems with the number one and three cylinders which produced a popping noise in the right side exhaust. After doing a ton of research, pulling the carbs off 3 different times myself, and then having a motorcycle shop go through the carbs too, I gave up. I was sick and tired of talking to motorcycle shops who talked a good game but in all honesty, didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground in regards to these 15 year old bikes. They just want your money and their work and knowledge is worthless.

The miracle began when I read about bobs work on Facebook and decided to give him a call. A week later, I loaded up the bike and drove 650 miles to his home in Tulsa. I immediately connected with Bob as he is a great guy with a big heart who shares my passion for the Valkyrie bike. Let me be the first to say that this guy truly knows his stuff! He can do anything required to fix your bike and get it running better than ever before. In my dads case, the carbs were all out of whack. The jets were clogged and the fuel seals were shot among many other things. Bob offers a hell of a deal that blows any dealership work and price rate out of the water. In three days, he had restored the carburetors to pristine condition and synced them, and had the bike looking fabulous. He offers a great deal to have other services performed too! Whatever you need done from changing break fluid to fixing hydrolock damage, this guy has the right tools and experience to fix the problem the correct way. Truly a fair man who runs a clean shop! And you just don't see that anymore these days.

Bob is a great guy who has rebuilt over 600 carburetor sets alone. I cant express how pleased I am with Bob's work and with the way my dads bike now runs. If anyone needs a testimony to his work. I have no problem putting my name on the line to recommend him. You will not regret it! Don't waste your time and money at other motorcycle shops. Take your bike to Bob the Attic Rat if you have a problem. I'm glad I did and even though I live in Indianapolis, I was definitely worth the drive!

Give this guy your business! Hes the best there is. Bob Smith: 918-720-5444.

Thank you Bob!  cooldude

Sincerely,

-Dustin Hansen-

AAhhhh, you must have been the Indiana bike there when I talked to him last week.

I agree.  Talk about helpful.  15 minutes on the phone with Bob was priceless.  Went home.  Did a little work, figured out some things based on a quick conversation with Bob.

thanks Bob.  However, my wife will ultimately be a little upset you mentioned the performance package you do!!  That's is definitely going to cost her some shoes.

I'll second the notion Bob is a class act. I bought some chrome side covers last year and he was great to deal with!

Having a similar issue with a basic 5 hp tecumseh snowblower engine getting it running just right or good enough to blow snow.  I spent 80 bucks for 1 hours labor and all they did take carb off, soak it with cleaning solution, and adjusted the high and low (idle) rpm set screws is all.   Seemed a tad pricey, but fully expected it to run right when got it back.

Got it back, now it runs great first 1 minute, then sputters out and runs lean and backfires and goes way down in idle on full rev sometimes dying due to lack of gas and then without notice goes back up revving high idle again as it should on full throttle.

Took it back in shop now and told them although winter is near over, the 2 times I attempted to use it this winter is still not right.  They never mentioned cost willing to go further, but they better not charge me another 1 hour labor and get it back doing the same darn thing not running right, especially since the snowblower is only worth 250 bucks top end at most.

If it needs a new carb, fine, I'll pay the 50-60 bucks but better NOT be another 80 bucks in labor as well and then get it back doing the same darn thing.   Should get it back this week one day and can guarantee you I will be running it (although NO snow left) for 5 minutes long at least to make sure it runs on full throttle as it should.   If not, I want my money (or over 1/2 of it) back.   It is NOT old gas either since drained the tank, let run dry, and put fresh 91 octane non ethanol in with seafoam and a tad bit of techron.

Carbs can be a pain  (especially more than 1), glad you got it figured out with someone who is reliable and realistic in their pricing.  Those people are few and far between nowadays, especially at dealerships who talk a good talk, but don't walk the walk.
