Looks GREAT Dave.  Want me to test drive it for you to "break" it in properly?  JUST KIDDING !    Wink
And yes - you would be the one I know who would drive 500 miles to pick up a CLEAN pick-up.

CONGRATULATIONS on the find.

Congrats.  Looking good.  I would be interested in specifics on engine size, what your advertised and actual mileage is.....and in the long run, how that aluminum body holds up (it is aluminum right?)

This is the last year for the (mostly) steel bodies, the new 2015's are all aluminum. Will keep you updated on the Eco-Boost. What I have been told is that you can get pretty good mileage out of them if you can manage to keep your foot out of the turbo’s. So far that is proving to be a bit of a challenge, this thing is pretty darn zippy!

Dave, these are great trucks.  I have a 2011 3.7 non turbo 2 wheel drive model and it has been trouble free for the 2.5 years I have had it.  The 3.7 V-6 gets 19-22 mpg.  Almost always over 20 mpg.

Hope yours performs as well for you!!

nice tires, nice rims, and I like that dark red metallic color against the chrome.

Let us know in a month or so how the mpg is along with opinions/comments.  Rated I believe at 21 hwy with 4wd model, but I know 2 who have this truck/same engine, etc.  only get mostly hwy. driving about 18-19 tops.  Am sure the twin turbo 3.5L V6 is zippy,  just don't know in the long run how a twin turbo V6 will hold up reliability wise?

What rear axle ratio is on it?

As far as 500 miles to get what you want in a 30K plus truck,  I see nothing wrong with that.  My neighbor drove well over 1000 miles one way from WI to Pennsylvania just to get a carryover new GREAT deal on a 2012 Skidoo Etec 1200 4 stroke 2-up top of the line touring snowmobile that he used ONLY 3 times this winter due to lack of snow (LOL).    MSRP is around 13K, so am sure he got it brand new for guessing around 10 grand or so am sure to drive that far which is a little nuts if you ask me.

As far as aluminum all body in 2015,  probably a wise move to get the last of the steel body 2014's since who knows what repair bills and dent removal, etc. will be like on an all new all aluminum body.

Nice truck Dave, 500 miles is almost next door.  I drove to South Florida from Louisiana to get a tractor a few years back, and last year I drove to Arizona to buy a new Altima.  Am thinking about a new Corvette in Atlantic City right now.  Good deals are where you can find them.

Nice looking truck Dave, I enjoy all brands of trucks and haven't owned a car since 1986.
Hope you have good luck with it, and I would drive 500 miles for a truck I wanted.

Assuming the 5.0L V8 then correct?  Is it 2wd or 4wd ford truck, it really does make about a 2 mpg difference even if not using 4wd.

Flint, not to hijack this thread much since that ford does look sharp, but that new dodge ram ecodiesel v6 perks my interest.  Can you really get near 29 hwy. mpg with that truck and 21 mpg city?  I hear it is pretty slow off the line unlike the gas 1/2 ton truck engines, is that true?
Plus, can you get it in a crewcab 4-door with a 6 1/2' bed length or at least a 6'3" bed length?
How long did it take for you to get used to the gear shifter (ParkReverseNeutralDrive) being a turn knob on the dash, seems odd to me for sure?  It took me near 1 year to get used from going to a column shifter all my life to a center console shifter kept reaching up top by steering wheel to shift.

Cookie - Regarding the tires, they are Goodyear Duratracs and they are hands down the best all terrain tire I have ever owned. Awesome in the snow, good highway manners and while they do hum a bit nowhere near as loud as the tread pattern suggests. Three different friends have put these on their trucks after seeing mine and every one of them said they were the best tires in the snow that they have ever had.

Good to know Dave on tires.  The OEM tires mfgs. put on all new vehicles are junk NOT made to last over the 36K, some not even close.  I've had OEM Yokahomas on one of my new vehicles totally bald at 26K miles.  I've had Kumho's that although last a long time,  was useless on 1cm of snow way too hard of a compound in cold winter that they had NO grip whatsoever and slid around horribly enough so that I contacted the mfg. of the vehicle informing them that that OEM tire should be recalled and taken off all of their vehicles in the snow belt states.

Those duratracs seem rugged and well built, good tread pattern, not too aggressive, yet have enough bite to get the job done.  I also don't mind a little hwy. noise coming from the tires as long as not too bad.  I had a set of BFGoodrich rugged trails T/A's and although an o.k. tire, they didn't last much over 30K before needing replacement.  Sure hope these duratracs last over 40K with a few tire rotations as they should since am sure not cheap.

I loved that color on your bike. When I get sick of the easily scratched black paint on my F6B that is exactly the color it is going to get painted.  cooldude

Cookie, I think the Ram has a good combination of power, speed and fuel mileage, does it have the power and speed of the new 2.7 ecoboost no but I am happy with it. Yes this truck is getting good fuel mileage, I can comment on city driving but around my small town I am getting 21-23 mpg and have gotten as much as 29.5 on a 80 mile trip. I have a camp 200 miles away and got 25.8 for the 400 miles with winter diesel and a windy cold day on the way there.
This truck is a CC with the 6' 4" bed. The nice thing about the knob on the dash is you have more room in the center console but I do find myself reaching for the shift lever sometimes. Flint

Dave -

It is the same Ruby Red Metallic as your truck.  It was done by an auto body shop and I got the paint code from the local Ford dealer.  It is a two stage paint, so it was a little tricky for them to match the trunk with the rest of the bike.  I added the trunk after I had the rest of the bike painted.

Nice!
I just picked up a 2015 F150
2.7 dual turbo. This truck has more power than my 2004 4.6 V8 and gets much better mileage.
