A friend is one who takes me for what I am.

Cleveland, Tennessee

« on: April 01, 2015, 10:23:21 AM »

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and good wishes. I am home today from the hospital and able to respond to everyone that had read Smokin'Joe's post.
For the past month I hadn't been feeling well, and I could tell I was getting worse by the day. I had a doctors appointment this past Thursday and was admitted to the hospital within the hour to have a chest tube put in because of Pericardial effusion. They removed a little more than a liter of fluid from around my heart. Six days in the Specialized Cardiac Unit for transplant patients, I was back were I was 12 years ago...having all the same testing done I had then.
Now I am waiting for results from all the tests to tell what may have caused the Pericardial effusion.
I have to go back to the hospital next week for further testing.
As of right now I am grounded from riding till I can get the OK from the doctors office. I do know that I won't be riding to GOTF this year and have my fingers crossed that I can attend in the cage. I have always said "it's about the ride" but have found with this club "it's about family."
Further updates coming later.

Keep us updated, Terry.  It's good to hear they were  confident enough to send you home.

I know lots of folks besides me will be pleased to see you however you arrive.

You're a good man, Terry.  Prayers continue.  I love you dearly and am pleased for the few times we have been able to interact.

I remember fondly that you left the key in your bike for me in La Crosse.  That Lori is faster than she looks, isn't she?

Good to here you're home at least. Hoping for all to go well when the test are done. Most frustrating thing is when they do a bunch of tests and come back with no answers. Hang in there man  cooldude

Glad to hear you are home from the horse pistol.

Thoughts & prayers still in the air stream from here to your house.

Good luck on the new set of tests.

Take the cage and be safe if the Dr allows it.

Otherwise you will be like me, grounded at home. cooldude cooldude

Good to see you back with us Terry. I had two of your episodes and my pericardial sac filled to the point that my heart couldn't beat any more. Fluid won't compress but the heart will and then it won't compress any more. Just keep in the back of your mind what to look and feel for such as loss of breath, light headedness and so on. My supply lines were leaking so I know what happened. Why are you producing fluid inside the pericardium? Find that out and you win the lottery....the lottery of life. Take care.

Terry, so glad to see you post, lets hope that you have a very speedy recovery and are back in the wind. Petra and I both look forward to sharing the wind with you again, you were sorely missed on that Dam ride, and I think all were very concerned for you.
