Does anyone have a clearview windshield installed on a woodys fairing? I was looking at some options for aftermarket windshields to add to my woodys fairing and I came across the clear view windshields. They seem to make a nice product and offer a vent in the windshield for added comfort when riding.

The idea of the new windshield is to eliminate the buffeting I am getting with the little stubby one that is on it now. I was thinking 8” - 10” re-curve with a vent…

Thanks,

most of your buffeting is coming from the lower fork area and running up around the front of the tank,,the solution is a set of fork lowers wind deflectors,,,

I have seen these but i am not a big fan of the look they give to the bike. I was hoping to accomplish less buffeting with a better windshield.

That's an expensive $hield just to get a vent in the middle of it.

No, I don't have any experience with a Clearview on my Woody's.  I have several Fast Aire shields.

http://www.fastaire.com/products/aero-windshields.php

I have a 4" in black for when I want all the air, a 7" for most of the year and warmer weather months, and a 10" for the cold weather months.

A 10" shield is the closest to the stock OEM Honda windshield on Tourers.

The 7" and 10" are light smoke tint.

My 7" shield.....

I don't have any experience with them, but Long Ride Shields seems to offer nice shields with recurve also.

What he told you is correct.  It's always good to have hope, but hope in what isn't true just ends up costing a lot of money.   Wink

Are you looking through your 10" or over it? How about the 7"?

Lowers is the correct answer. I have had them on every cruiser I have owned. They are great! I have a set of clear ones on my Valkyrie that I got several years ago, but I can't remember where. I would try this first if your concern is buffeting.

When I had the Honda Tourer windshield on the bike I looked just over it.

With my 10" Fast Aire shield, I look just over it.

The 7" shield, I look over it.....the wind just barely does hit the top of my helmet.....sometimes.

From what i have read, the 10" will get me back to the Honda tourer size. I liked the size of the old Honda tourer windshield so i think ill pull the trigger on that one. I am only 5'8'' with a ultimate lowrider seat so i will be looking through the shield which I dont mind.

I still have to think about that vent but i am imagining it like this. When you open a rear window in a car you get really bad buffeting. When you open the front to equal out the pressure it helps significantly, so it may make a difference on the motorcycle.. I think its worth a try.

I have Woody's fairing with fork mounted deflectors. Where are you guys positioning the deflectors that does the most to eliminate the helmet buffeting?

Had the same problem. Ordered 12" Clearview. Helped but didn't like the top of windshield at eye level so I ordered 15". Problem solved.
