Not a fan of tats. Don't mind if not overdone.  I do not like it though when it starts getting all over, i.e. top of the head, face, etc.

I've always thought the perfect "tramp stamp" would be 5 or 6 flies coming out of their ass crack. Grin

More of Mrs. Sharon's tats:
The one on her left arm is from a print that hung in her mother's house from the time she was a kid. It was just a print depicting a quail sitting on a fence post, with the broken strands of barbed wire curled around the post. A board loosely nailed to the post gave the impression of a cross. It was set in a lonely, unkept field. You could almost feel the wind rustling the tall grass. A cheap print of a painting by an artist of no significance. But that image came to symbolize home and family for her.
Her brother's name was Wendell, but everybody called him Windy. When he passed away, she asked me to design a tattoo using the fencepost cross image from that print, and to have the loose strands of barbed wire spell out "Windy."

On her right shoulder is a simple line drawing of a cat. What can I say, she likes cats. Notice the tail makes an "S" for Sharon.

She has a tat on each shoulder, basically mirror images of a rose where the stem is made from the sentence, "Rose of Sharon." My name (GUY) is hidden in the rose petals.

Going up her back is a vine, bearing leaves the birth stone color of each child and grandchild.

I can't find pic of the last two. I'll keep looking.

The only tat I have is a portrait of her on my left arm, high enough that it is covered by a short sleeve shirt. Sharon asked me if I was sure if I wanted it. "What if something happens to me and you meet somebody else?" she asked.
"She'd better like your picture," I told her.
The little girl doing the tattoo liked that.

I can see this thread heading to pit bull or brand of truck territory.   angel

Oh!  Now you've done it.  You've opened the question of whether it's okay for one to tattoo his pit bull.   Shocked

Just a thought.  When folks shortened the name "pit bull dog" why did they go with "pit bull" instead of "pit dog"?  they are, after all, not the bulls. ???

Since were sharing.......

The tattoo I have on my right arm is a conglomeration of symbolism.  First it is derived from the Cross of "the way" at the Eli Cathedral in England.  They have it as a memory of Christ's steps to Calvary they refer to it as the "way"

At a Church I used to go to they adopted that cross as their symbol but call it the Journey Cross.  As in we all have our own journey before meeting Christ.  I prefer the second symbolism, but either way is cool.  I also designed the crown of thorns armband for Christ's death and the EKG running through the middle for resurrected life.

I rarely make provisions to cover this tattoo but it is mostly covered by a short sleeve t-shirt

the Ely Cathedral Cross

My interpretation

I'll chime in with my .02

I think tattoos can be good or bad.  It's all eye of the beholder.  I've seen ink work that was nicely done, and flattering, and seen stuff that..... well, my mom always said in that case, I should just close my mouth.

I'll agree that placement is an important factor (Serk's diagram is humorous, but true).

My personal belief - they should tell YOUR story (like Chris's cross).

Mine- I'm a Vet - served and my time in shaped a part of me, and formed some lifelong relationships.  Myself and 3 others have variations of this image in memory of a fallen friend.  Right shoulder and upper arm.

I'm a graduate of the best school I know, and my time there allowed me to expand my mind and shape my future...

Left pectoral

And of course, I've lived and am assured the continuation of my DNA....

This is an armband around my left arm with my boys names

All these are mostly hidden when wearing a t-shirt (the arm work does peek out a bit if the sleeves are high cut).

Ill probably get blasted for this, but I've had them on my upper arms for 40 years. I don't really think about them, but if it were today, I wouldn't get them again. I can't see them, they render people to make judgement on you, and they need to be covered in professional situations. Now you may not care if others judge you, but in certain situations it is important. Although they are much more widely accepted today, I still don't find them to be attractive, tough looking, or art. I also(time to get blasted) find that they are not attractive on women at all! Although that girl after the Boston girl is red hot!

Thanks for helping with that coffee-through-the-nose-clearing! Long story, but that's a funny question you ask there!

It's actually Cooper, and while I'd make an excuse about it being hard to take selfies of the back of your arm, it's much more manly to say "I need a wide angle lens to capture all of that GUN"....LOL

Wife's tattoo.

I've never gotten one myself but I think something like this would be pretty cool.

When the topic of tats comes up, a favorite memory of mine is a lady who I met at a bar one night.

She was so excited to tell me about her love for country music and how she had two of her favorite country singers tattooed to the inside of her thighs.  The tats were new and she had not showed anyone and they were still in the healing process so kinda hard to make out.  She wanted for me to give my opinion and tell her who each of the singers were.

Sounded like a good challenge, when the time came she slipped of her clothes and showed me her precious tats.  I told her it was hard to make out, but the one on the left looks alike Waylon Jennings, the one on the right resembled Lyle Lovett, but I am sure the one in the middle is Willie Nelson!    Smiley

I'm not a fan of tattoo's, just my opinion.

I was in line at one time to get one somewhere on Front St in that city far far away.  Seemed like the thing to do at the time, but, apparently I wasn't drunk enough so I left to go get another drink.

Way down here there are folks that are covered from head to toe with them, of course, gals included. I'm just wondering how they'll feel about them in a few years.

I 've had a couple conversations with some that are sorry they got  them. At least your daughters method is probably much less painless than that of the Hells Angels.

Resurrecting an old thread, but I finally just took a new a pic of Mrs Sharon's tats.

The vine has our kids and grandkids names on it and the leaf at the end is their birthstone color. There is room for more if our son ever get's with the program.
The stem of the roses are made from the sentence, "Rose of Sharon." My name is hidden in the petals of both roses.

Well I'm covered!! both arms and legs sleeved, chest done, back done and I'm still getting inked at 50... I did stop for about 15 years but then I had a nipper and thought just one more with her name on and I'm hooked again....

And to complete the set, I wear a gold earing in my left ear...lol....

Women with tats, gorgeous, love em.

Hasn't done me any harm in life... No particular meaning or stories to mine, first one: joined the Navy, got drunk, got a tattoo...the rest is history. Grin
