I know Flamingobabe has a Spyder and also a Valk. I have a 98 tourer and just bought my wife a 2011 Spyder RT.  Im thinking of buying an enclosed trailer to haul em in, at least for now...  I hate to trailer but it makes sense sometimes.  Especially right now for her, I want to ease her into riding with me ,  not burn her out.
My question is ,  wondering what size trailer to get..?
Anyone have this same situation?
thx....Mike

Park both units nose to butt and make a measurement.  Allow about 3 feet between the 2 units for moving around in between them in the trailer.

This is the minumum length you need.

Add about 4 or 5 ' and that will be the length of a trailer needed.   If you plan on hauling your luggage and etc in there also, add another 2 or 3 feet.   Now find a nice big 3/4 ton pickup to pull this setup.   Might want to consider a Diesel 4 speed unless ya splurg for an Allison automatic transmission.

Once you have bought the trailer, then it is laying out the place to add chocks for securing the units to the floor.

The back unit needs to have a removable chock so as to be able to get the front unit in and out.

What he said AND I've noticed some larger dealers have trailers there with the MCs. Or just go to a trailer dealer and look at flea bay but R J nailed it. And you WILL want some tie down pad eyes in the floor. And DO NOT skimp on tie down straps. In a hard stop they only have to fail once. Conversely good straps will cause you no worry in a panic stop. Also you can have too many tie downs on as often as you want if thy are attached correctly-you can have too few on once! I used to pull flatbed all over this country. NEVER once dumped a load. do you want length or width in a trailer, all up to you.

If width, will need at least 8' wide inside which is an awful wide trailer unless wheels are under the trailer.

If length, going single file since the spyder is wider than the Valk,  good luck since pushing 18-20' is pretty long.

You may get by with a 7x16' trailer with 18-24" V-nose in front if you can get the spyder upfront all the way in the v-nose section a tad and to the side some to make room for the Valk's front tire on the other side of the single rear wheel of the spyder.  Or maybe better yet since the Spyder has reverse gear, to put Valk upfront with front tire in the v-nose section all the way up and back in with reverse gear the Spyder at a slight angle  with the rear tire angled next to the VAlk's rear tire.

I'm in sort of same boat.  I have 2 can am 2-up MAX atv's and those darn things are over 8' long as well so a 7x16' trailer is pushing it for length and I cannot stagger them much since 4' wide.

I wanted to get a 6x14' trailer single axle being near 2 grand cheaper, but not enough width inside to stagger the 2 ATV's to fit inside a 14' with 18" v-nose front section.

Best suggestion is to take both spyder and Valk to a trailer place and ask them to try out say a 7x16' dual axle trailer and see if both fit inside staggered with probably Spyder going in first in the v-nose section since is wider in front than the rear so the Valk's front tire behind it can go next to the Spyder's rear tire.  It will be a tight fit I think, but should work I think.

I priced out a 6x14' single axle trailer being around 2500 new vs. a 7x16' dual axle trailer over 4.2K new which is a lot of difference in price I do not want to pay but will have to if I want an enclosed trailer vs. what I have now BARELY fitting my 2 LONG ATV's sideways on my open single axle triton ATV88 trailer.

i trailer my Valkyrie year round while on constructions jobs across the country.  I would never ever recommend a single axle trailer.  Ive had blow outs that could have been a huge problem with a single axle trailer.  Always always use a two axle trailer.

Thats my two cents.

My wife has a Spyder as well and when I put it in my 6x10 trailer it fills it up.  The Spyder is about 9' long and my old Interstate was about the same length.  I would go with a 7'x18' with a V-nose and put the Spyder in the front so it's nose is in the V.  I do this when I borrow my cousin's 6x12 enclosed V-nosed trailer to haul my wife's Spyder in the winter.  The nose is close to the front of the V but the wheels hit first.  You will need something to make sure that they don't move, like Superclamps for the RT, because they will in very close proximity to one another.  Before you do anything I would take measurements with how the bikes will be set up to get your real length that you need.  This includes the wheel chocks that you will use for the valk and the Spyder.

I currently have a 6' X 12' enclosed trailer and it has plenty of room for the Valk with room to spare behind the bike for other items.
