I was wondering if any one else has the same issue I do.

During live programming, the screen size changes to a Zoom size, cutting out the info on the edges.

I noticed it during the last F1 race and last night during the Boston/Washington hockey game.

You can't see the score, period, time, powerplay info, etc.

Any one else have this?

Trying to figure out who to bitch at. Grin

I'm a purely low tech guy, but don't most new flat screens have a basic set of 3-4 screens to choose from (one of them being most normal, and one is wide angle)?  I use only a Verizon remote, and remove the OE TV remote batteries so they don't bleed down with age and ruin it.  But once in a blue moon I have to add batteries to the OE TV remote to change a basic TV setting, or watch a DVD.  So, would it not be possible to use the OE TV remote and mess with the screen choices to see if you cannot get rid of your problem during these particular broadcasts?

its your settings in your tv,, if you have it set at 1080p and watch a standard definition program it will stretch it like that to make it fit..when that happens change your screen to 720 or what ever that is for std. def.

Thanks Jess'es Grin

It's not the TV setting, I've messed with it every which way you can.

Called the cable company but didn't have the patience to wait.

Not channel specific, but I'm fed up with the stinkin' ads etc that they seem to want to throw up while watching something and cutting out scores etc that you can't see. Marketing other programs/shows etc.  tickedoff

Huh?  Mine is 1080p TV, and I have Verizon FIOS high def (and non hi def) channels.  But on non-hi def channels, it does not stretch the screen, they automatically go to a smaller picture-frame screen with about 6-7 inches of black all the way round the picture (37" TV).  That is on the NORMAL TV screen setting, whatever that's called.

If I ever see Flo walking across the street, I'm gonna run her over.

And notice how a high percentage of these adds appeal directly to the Free Sh!t Army.... let us help you get on the gravy train (for a piece of your award) (many paid for by the G itself)?   Obviously, they are home watching TV and not at work.

yep i stand corrected, on my living room tv it does as you say, it makes the picture smaller but in my bedroom on the cheaper one, it stretches the picture out and you cant see the edges of the picture being broadcasted,,i can change the settins and then see the picture but its to small on the 32 inch..also the one in the bedroom is NOT HD either..

I have Comcast as my TV provider and when I watch some of the HD channels it ZOOMS in as you describe.  I can change the picture size to Normal, 4/3, Zoom or whatever on the TV remote but none of those provide the optimal viewing picture.  When I watch the same show on a  NON HD channel everything fits fine and can read all the banners etc.  End up paying for HD quality on some of my favorite shows but if I want to read news banners I have to watch them on regular channels and actually I don't notice much difference.

My TV has several view modes as well as resolution options.  Also with DTV I can format the program.  Pretty well can manipulate so everything can be viewed.  On commercials, it really pushes my buttons that they are almost all infomercials now, and even so they increase their numbers so that an hour show is 45 min or less.  Am thankful for the mute button, or it wouldn't be worth the hassle of sitting through the trash.
