My other half works in the Irish Wheelchair Association as a Community Employment Supervisor. Most of her 'members' are retired people with mobility difficulties, who get picked up from their homes and brought to the centre for a few hours each day, so that they have some company (rather than sitting alone at home all day), and do a few 'projects' such as needlework, mosaics from broken tiles, hand drawn cards, badges, etc.
Here's an example of their mosaic pictures; Siamese type cat, 17" x 25". I think herself paid €45 for it.

One of the other things they do is cover plywood made bird tables/nesting boxes with bits of broken tiles. Once made up, these tables/boxes get their mosaic treatment and, along with the other stuff they make, eventually get put on sale at their various fundraisers. The money earned helps go towards getting stuff for the centre, so that these people can still do their little projects.
One day she asked me ''Our handyman has hurt himself and cannot make the bird tables and nesting boxes we need, so if I get some ply delivered to the house, can you make some for the members so they can get them mosaic'd up ready for our fundraiser?''
Long story shortened, I made up about a dozen or so various types of bird tables and she took them into her members.
That was about two years ago.
Last night when I got home and she handed me a small 6" x 14" wrapped package. ''That's from the members as a Thank You for doing those bird boxes''.
This is what was inside.........
