Being the type that always plans ahead, what I'm wondering is.... where does one find a donor?
I don't think the morgue works.
Remember Abby Normal?
http://youtu.be/6PMwB4Gb8nk When my cousin had a traumatic brain injury from an ATV wreck a year ago I learned a lot more about organ donation than I previously knew. Donors for most major organs are legally dead but still have lower function of their brain running. My cousin lay in a hospital bed for nearly a week, legally dead, with a pulse and still breathing while surgeons and organ recipients could be brought in to harvest all the usable parts.
I'd assume a whole body donation would be a similar situation. Someone who's had a traumatic brain injury and is dead, but with the lower functions of the brain still running could be a donor.
Will this work this time? Probably not. But, this is IMHO valuable for us to learn more about it and someday perhaps do this successfully.
