What’s you Lady’s name, and is there a story behind the name?

My riding buddies gave mine the name "Peppermint Phatty", because I always refer to her as Phatt Ghurl, she is red and white and I always grab several starburst peppermint candies when we leave a restaurant we frequent.

Suzy.

I was working in the garage and my young daughter walked out with my phone ringing in her hand and said " Dad your phone keeps ringing, I bet it's your girlfriend."

I quickly said "answer it and see what Suzy wants."

She said "it's not Suzy it's Keary how many girlfriends do you have?"  Keary is a guy at work.

She laid the phone down and went inside and called my wife. For years it was a joke she would come in and say I can't find (insert object like all your socks) you need to go check at Suzy's house or we would be fussing at each other and she would tell me to go live with Suzy.

I bought the Bike and brought it home and set to cleaning and performing all the maint on it and she said you pay more attention to that bike than me it's like it was a girl.

She was named Suzy that day and has been Suzy ever since.

Log Truck.

When the f6bs and the new valkyries came out, sides were took. Some
people only liked the old valkyrie, some only liked the new valkyries,
some only liked the f6bs... tempers flared and assertions were made.
One f6b owner said his old valkyrie rode like a log truck compared to
his f6b. Here's my Log Truck...

My lad got his name from some of the guys I raced at the drag strip.

I didn't tell them that I'd made a couple of modifications to the exhaust and the heads.

After getting their butt kicked twice it got the name of 'Green Mean Machine' aka MGM.

Bike is Green/Creme so MGM stayed on it as a handle.

Even as a Trike, it still holds its own.

It wins a drag race every now and then.

When I got my Valk in 2008, I asked the couple what her name was.   The lady said the had always called her "Valk".   I tend not to change names of people, dogs, nor machines from their given name.  So her name is Valk and will continue to be called Valk until she finds a new home.

I call the 2014 I have "the sewing machine."  That's what it reminds me of with it's anemic stock exhaust sound.  If they ever, ever, probably never make an aftermarket exhaust for it I will have to come up with something else.

I named my Valk' Emanuel'   I named it when my wife, who was in intensive care, told me to go for a ride.

I sold the Valkyrie to a friend and the name is still on it.

I call one of mine "Kryptonite" because she's green and kryptonite to Harleys. The other one I haven't named yet. Funny, I an old sign painter with a pretty good knack for hand lettering and I have yet to letter "Kryptonite". Lazy? I think so.

I named mine Fett Jenke after I told my wife I was going to put fat girl on it. She said everybody would think it was in reference to her even thought she's not fat, lol women.
So Fett Jenke is Norse for fat girl.

I don't get naming machinery.

Some of us do.

To me, it gives them a little more personality.

I call my original "Bobby Lu".  Named after my brother who passed in 1989.  His name was Robert Luther. The Honda quad I inherited from him was used as partial down payment in 1999.

We grew up together and both had love of mototcycles in our blood.

Traveller - the name of the horse of General Robert E. Lee.  Given to her by Fiddle Mike in Texas.  This was the grave of the original Traveller in Lexington, Virginia - right next to her beloved General.

The Mothership, of course.  I was coming back to work on the Valk from lunch with 6 or 7 other guys on sportbikes following me.  When one of our dispatchers saw us ride into the parking lot she said "It looks like the mothership and all her drones are back."  The name stuck.

Ride Safe,

As stated above, I really don't see naming a machine. To me it's a machine from which I get a great deal of satisfaction but I don't see a need for a name. However, if you do choose to call yours by a name, it's ok by me.

When I got my red & white '97, my wife noticed "she goes fast, and is awfully shiny", to which my good friend and neighbor laughed and said "fast and shiny - like a stripper, so she needs a stripper name".  Thus "Candy".

Two years later, we painted her and renamed her "Penny".

For some reason I've named every car and bike.
Her name is "THRUD" Says so on the licence plate too.
Thrud was a Valkyrie princess, also just happened to be the daughter of Thor.
How can you go wrong with that?
