Does anyone use Picasa and know how to send pics on their regular email rather than gmail ?  Oh, I use an Apple and it seems to me that gmail is required with OS X and I can't get rid of it. I'm not bright enough to remember more than one email account.

Just open email and click write, click on "attach" and go to picasa, click on open to select your image, or hold down mouse and drag it to your email. Not familiar with how apple works though.

Thanks, thats a good try. I've tried it. The pics will drag, but, not outside of Picasa. Apparently its pretty protective of its pictures much like fathers of their daughters and won't allow them out of the house.

Yep, but, mine seems to only want you to use gmail. And, this thing won't let me get rid of gmail. Atlas, I can't figure it out. Computers and I don't get along.

Patrick...

Can you export the picture out of Picasa to you desktop? Look under "File" or "Edit" for an "Export" command.....

I have to do that with iPhoto to post pictures as JPEGS.....

The Export usually lets you adjust the format and the location, which might be your problem.....

OK, let me argue with this thing again and see what happens. I don't have a desktop, all my previous computers were desktop PCs and went to a single Apple laptop a number of years ago. It does have export , edit and all that stuff that I have no idea how to work. So, I'll play some more. This has been the best 'puter I've had but I'm still pretty computer illiterate. Every time I start experimenting I send things somewhere never to seen again.

Well, I appreciate the responses. But, whatever I try [ documents or downloads] this monster insists that I use gmail.  Guess I'll have figure what my gmail info stuff is and get used to it. I'm not convinced computers make ones life easier.
Plus I had to use some great big long stupid gmail name to get it to accept me in the first place and now doesn't seem to want to let me to change it. But, I'll keep plugging away at it.

I've had the same problem.  I think I figured it out though.
When you're in Picasa right click to get menu and choose to open file location.  When that pops up click on attach on your email form then click on the picture you want to e-mail.  I tried to drag the photo over but that didn't work.   A split screen might make it easier.
Most of the time I use the G-mail link. It's just plain easier.
Hope it works for you. Smiley

I may be wrong on this, but I think your pictures are also located on the computer, outside of Picasa.
You should be able to access the picture you want at that location and use your other email to send it.

The reason things are so confusing is because most apps are designed with the restrictions of the supporting software companies that made the app. Google designed Android and most apps have to downloaded through the Google store just like Apple. They put restrictions on formats and things a program can do either for profit or copyright or to keep you coming back to them. That is most of the problem with computers, choose your operating system wisely, learn it, and usually when problems come up you can solve them. Apple got to be the OS of the designers because it supposedly allowed you to do things in design that were easier. Winodws wants everyone to switch to a paid subscription software its their way of keeping the money coming in. You don't own it and never will.

Again, thanks. It seems as though this should be easy and I'm just missing something. But, this has kicked my butt.
I'm now trying to figure out how to change info in gmail and will just use it for sending pics.
I was obviously born without a computer gene.

I've always wondered why things mechanical or electrical are so hard for some folks, well, I have those issues with computers.

It must be a coincidence that I just had someone ask for some pics of a recent together and of some of the local Key deer.

So I have been arguing with this thing again and I'm not winning.  I'm about ready to get out the camera, take pics of the pics and drop the camera off at the drug store. Or, I'll just hand the camera to my friend so he can stick them in his 'puter himself.

Sorry Patrick I am not really sure what you are doing, I know you are trying to send someone pics but I will am not sure of the device or operating system so I will explain what I think you are trying to do.

On the Iphone just pull up the pic you want to send at the bottom left a touch the icon and send the pic to your own personal email account. This will get it from the phone to the email. When its there you can then choose to forward it save to your computer.

On Gmail click compose email when you do that then attach a file it can be any file then send. Its a drag and drop file system so all you have to do is drag the pic to the composing email.

Reread and now understand you have a Apple PC it should also be able to use Gmail or anyother email platform and still use drag and drop funtion.
