My friend is looking for a CB for his newly bought Interstate. I posted a wanted ad on the classifieds and have had two responses on Valkyriebling CBs. I relayed the info to my friend but he would like to know if anyone has any feedback good or bad about the CB units sold by Valkyriebling. If you prefer not to respond on the board please email me directly.

Thanks, Dave

I do not have one, but Mike made them to work, and they do.

I believe they are the same radio, but made for the Yamaha with different length cables.  Big Mike modified the cables to fit and work with the Valkyrie IS, under the seat as best I recall.  Not sure about antennas tho...

Been using the the Valkyrie Bling CB (modified Yamaha Venture CB) for probably 7-8 years. Never had a problem with it, works great. Everyone I ride with says that I come through loud and clear.

Mounted in the battery box in the area where the owners manual was.

I use a CB/FM combo antenna with a splitter, mounted to the regular radio antenna mount.

I do have a Radio Shack SWR meter and have it dialed in.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Didn't know anyone used a CB anymore...thought everyone just texted each other.  Sorry couldn't resist. Yes the Yamaha does work.

I have an OEM CB and one of compatible Yamaha CBs.  Functionally, they are identical.  Side by side, they are identical except for the length of the power cable.

To mount in the back portion of the battery box, you will need to make a 12-18" extension for the power cable and cut out some of the battery box plastic with a dremel tool.  Do a search; I recall a couple of threads with photos that show how to modify the battery box.

I also used a splitter to use one antenna for the CB and AM/FM radio.  Last I checked, the splitter I purchased is no longer available.   You may need to install a separate antenna for the CB.

Almost The only time I use the CB is on rides with others who have CB's.  Then, it is REAL handy to talk to each other!  Makes the ride much more enjoyable.

Yup I get that. Never see any antennas on anything other than semi's anymore. Nothing like the 70s when everybody and their brother had a CB and 12 antenna's on their car or truck and a linear. I was one of those people with a base and one in each vehicle. It made it easier to let the wife know I was coming home and spent time shooting the crap with some of my buddies when I was working.
Back in the day I had one in the cruiser and spent a good share of my shift talking to truckers that I got to know when they came through the area. It was fun and made a boring 12 hour shift a little quicker to go by.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I only use my CB when I'm with others as well. Too me it make the ride much more enjoyable to talk about things and sites along the way. Also in case anyone has a problem they can let us know right away.

Check with Sierra Electronics at Troy Ohio. They fixed up my CB set up with a splitter as others have done. The splitter was fairly inexpensive and allows use of just a CB antenna for FM and CB. The Antenna just screws into the old FM base and is the one that the old Goldwing 1200s used.
