Dave, That's a cool looking key. I used a factory hand grip end. People look the bike up and down and still can't find the ignition. .jpg)

Yeah, I prefer the stock hand grip, but didn't have one. Can always make another down the road

Gentleman, very cool idea's! I'm not creative enough to think of stuff like this. Do you worry at all about key not tethered to cycle somewhere? Really like it!

Wow, nice stuff, pretty ingenious creations, question though, how does one secure the key shaft?

Interesting.....thought of that years ago....but didn't waste my time/energy. That key is a sharp poker when it's in the pocket, and I have other important things either in my pocket or very close by. It looks nice, but key is in the ignition when I'm riding and out and in my pocket when I'm not. No need to try and dress up a key hole while I'm moving or keep a key in the ignition while I'm parked. And... That does not fit well or feel comfortable in my pockets.

Just a little dremel work to get it in and then your choice of epoxy, jb weld, etc to set up.

Do you have your key tethered now? And if so why? Once ignition is turned key can't be removed. Nice work I have a couple of the grip ends and have been meaning to make one myself.

I slotted the inside of the grip end and ground the key down until I had the height right so that the key will still open the gas tank with no interference. JB weld and let set up. My key always goes in my vest pocket so no fear of being stabbed in a uncomfortable location in the pants pocket.

I leave mine in most of the time.... I've challenged coworkers to find my key and none have yet.

Panic set in as I read this. I knew I had to make sure it fit another lock but was thinking hardbags and mine are keyed different.........a quick check relieved me and mine did open the gas tank lid. That was close........

Dave,
When I did mine a while back another member here suggested checking the clearance on the tank lock as I went, if not for that advice I may well have taken too much off and not been able to use it. There is a wealth of knowledge on this board that never ceases to amaze me!
Baird,
Love the look of that lug nut key, just might have to borrow that idea for the next one.

I wide mine out of a wide flat wooden knob. I painted it black and leave it in the ignition. Works perfect
