Favorite Sci Fi movie........ Blade Runner. I know, I know easy choice. Shortly after it came out to little response it was shown every 2 weeks at a small indpendent movie theatre in Soho, London. Double feature with "Altered States". After I saw it once, sci fi reader, I saw it another 16 times. Very occasionally I would sit thru Altered States just to justify the ticket cost. Terrible movie.

I'm curious about Ex Machina... could be good, could be horrible. My all time favorite: When it was re-released I was the only viewer in the theatre. I still jumped when the creature appeared in the duct work. Prometheus was a soft disappointment.

Viewing is in the eye of the beholder, but horrible, it is not.

BF, that trailer caught my attention. There are lots of twists and turns the movie could take. I could see myself being Avas friend.

Made me think of ET, Close Encounters and Predator. All of which were genre setting. Recently I liked District 9.

Not science fiction but short films that are creative and fun https://www.youtube.com/user/TheCGBro?annotation_id=channel%3A53cb00b5-0000-2edf-85dd-001a11403e46&feature=iv&src_vid=MFxJsaegVPw
Or the 1946 Beauty and the Beast in French, really wild movie look at the beast and look at the table the arm holding the candles. There is one scene of her walking down a hall way and the candles are held by arms coming out of the walls that move as she goes down the hall way.

Off on a book tangent eh The series "Chung Kuo". I rate this a 9 out of 10. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chung_Kuo_(novel_series) When I was younger I read Michael Moorcock "The Eternal Champion", "Elric of Melnibone" and "Jerry Cornelius."

What about the book Stranger in a strange land. This was the first sci fi book I ever read. It was given to me by an english teacher that saw something in me and got me reading and my grades jumped and from then on I looked forward to school every day. It,s funny what a little sci fi can do for a boy. shortleg

Part of the triumvirate of Grand Masters: Heinlein, Asimov, and Clark. Wrote science fiction that actually stressed the science part and the math works. Stranger in a Strange Land was the inspiration for the waterbed. Waldo Inc. for the macro and micro "Waldo" manipulators. Clark helped with Telstar the first communications satellite. Dr. "A" has a fascinating biography as well.

Just got done with "Interstellar". Quite thought provoking premise and seemed to me to be an extension of the "Space Odyssey" films of years past.
Are we headed there? Could be, if the theories of astrophysics are proved true and space explorers continue to push outward.

I'm curious about Ex Machina... could be good, could be horrible. My all time favorite: Actually scratch that, I was confused. I watched Automata Watched it on Netflix the other night because of learning about it here. Uh, well, I'm an avid Scifi loving fool, but the script , the script, the script. Don't get me wrong, I watched it all the way, but it seemed there were just holes and contradictory actions among the characters in the story. Maybe there it was poorly edited and key pieces were left out.
